Welcome to the Senior Center’s Pumpkin Patch! We have 6 beauties to auction off as a fundraiser for senior center activities. All bids begin at $20. Bidding ends Monday, October 26th at 9 am. If you are notified as the winning bidder, please pick up your pumpkin by Wednesday, October 28th. If you are interested in bidding, please comment below the picture of the pumpkin of your choice. As always, we appreciate all your support of our programs and fundraising opportunities. Happy bidding y’all!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our first Safety Day at the senior center. It was a wonderful program with lots of great information. Thank you to Alleghany County Sheriffs Office, Glade Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Cherry Lane Volunteer Fire Department, High Country Area Agency on Aging, Halsey Drug, NC Cooperative Extension, Schuster PT, Skyline National Bank and AppHealth for taking time out of your day to come and talk to our seniors about staying safe. We appreciate all that you do for our community and especially the seniors of Alleghany County!

Medicare Open Enrollment begins October 15!

If you're reviewing your Medicare coverage for 2027, the Medicare Plan Finder is a great place to start. This free tool at Medicare.gov can help you compare plan options available in your area.

Before you begin, have a list of:
✅ Your doctors and other health care providers
✅ Your prescription drugs
✅ Your preferred pharmacies

As you compare plans, look beyond the monthly premium. Consider:
• What you'll pay for health care and prescriptions
• Whether your doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies are in the network
• How your medications are covered
• The plan's Maximum Out-of-Pocket limit, which is the most you'll pay for covered Part A and Part B services during the year

Remember: Medicare plans can change from year to year, so it's important to review your coverage annually, even if you're happy with your current plan.
