Over the last few weeks all the Officers of the Hickory Valley Volunteer Fire Department Chief, {Bruce Sparks), Assistant Chief (Ed Baldwin), Captain, (Seth Price), and Lieutenant, (Seth Price) have been attending Hazardous Materials Training at the Rock Island Fire Department. This training will greatly enable our department to identify, mitigate, and prevent hazardous materials from causing harm to our communities, property, and environment.

If you pay close attention to the Pictures, you will also notice several other members of our White County, and Sparta City Fire Fighters. Thanks to all who have been attending.

A special thanks to Will Daniel of the Rock Island Fire Department for setting up and providing the training through the Tennessee Fire Academy.

Our members deserve a special thank you as well for taking the time out of their lives to take the training in the evenings and weekends.

What better way to spend your Sunday than to train on the use of SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) and full PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in confined spaces.

This training is essential for our department to be ready to answer the call for people still inside a burning structure.

All this great gear adds about 75 pounds of additional weight to each firefighter.

Thank you to all our enthusiastic team for all the extra effort they put in to being prepared to take care of business when the moment calls for it.

Merry Christmas to all our neighbors.
Yesterday, Christmas Eve Day, our Hickory Valley Firefighters were training our next generation of firefighters in search techniques, escaping from a structure following the hose out in the correct direction, and the use of self contained breathing apparatus.
Special thanks to Pierce Brown, Dewayne Mace, and Zac Johnson for their expertise, and to our Junior Firefighters Dravin Margeson, and Cayden Mace.

Well here we are on a beautiful Sunday morning, and our neighbors are finishing up their live burn training at the Tennessee Fire and Codes Academy. They could have been home sleeping in late, but they chose to volunteer for more training to help them serve our community.
Great Job Pierce Brown, Nakeisha Price, Aaron Wolfe (Doyle), and Daniel Copeland (Doyle).

Thank you all for serving our communities.

Today members of the Hickory Valley and Doyle Fire Departments participated in day one of a 2 day live fire training exercise. They were learning the ins and out of fighting interior structure fires.

While we enjoyed our beautiful day, they were running around in full fire protective gear, and breathing apparatus getting full of smoke and water.

Our hats off to all who participated in the training. 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡
