This week's Member Spotlight is the Alleghany Arts Council - Sparta, N.C.!

The Alleghany Arts Council is a volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to creating an environment where the arts flourish and enrich the lives of all who call Alleghany County home. We believe in the power of the arts to inspire, educate, and connect people of every age and background, fostering a more vibrant and united community.

Our values guide all our actions: welcoming people from all walks of life, fostering creativity and innovation, celebrating local heritage, supporting education and lifelong learning, and enhancing community engagement.

Throughout the year, we bring the arts to life with a full schedule of concerts, classes, and events. Signature programs like Music on Main and Saturdays in the Park fill our streets and parks with live music, bringing hundreds together in celebration. Our Taste of the Arts workshops highlight the talents of local and regional artists in interactive, small-group settings, while programs like Wintery Mix bring live performances into cafés and music halls during the colder months. From children’s craft activities to large-scale community concerts, our efforts connect neighbors and encourage creativity.

We receive funding through donations from businesses and individuals, grants, event sponsorships, in-kind contributions, local government support, and partnerships with other community organizations.

By supporting the Alleghany Arts Council, you help preserve our cultural heritage, empower local artists, and ensure that the arts continue to thrive in Alleghany County. Together, we can continue to bring beauty, inspiration, and connection to our community.
