Today’s a good day to stay indoors and accomplish those tasks, as if it were a rainy day! If you have to work outside, be sure to hydrate, take adequate breaks in a shady spot, and be aware for signs of heat related illness.
🥵 Heat Stroke:
• Confusion
• Slurred speech
• Loss of consciousness
• Seizures
• Heavy sweating or hot, dry skin
• Very high body temperature
• Rapid heart rate
🥵 Heat Exhaustion
• Fatigue
• Irritability
• Thirst
• Nausea or vomiting
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Heavy sweating
• Elevated body temp. or fast heart rate
🤬 Heat Cramps
• Muscle Spasms or pain
• Usually in legs, arms, or trunk
Lightheadedness or dizziness may also occur and can be an early sign. If you experience any of these symptoms, or find someone who is, contact 911, move them to a cool spot, and start cooling them off.
Be sure to check on your elderly family, friends, and neighbors. And NEVER leave children or pets in your car.
Still on track for dangerously hot temperatures this week, when several days will see the heat index rise into the 90s and, for Today and Tuesday, into the triple digits. Take it easy outside, stay well hydrated, and take frequent breaks in shade or air conditioned rooms.
