Girls Who Code - Data Divas met today for a fun talent show, followed by creating marble solar runs and team building. Each girl did a fantastic job! From theatrics to rollerblades, we had it all! So much more than tech!

Alleghany’s BEST kept secret…we introduce you to your new Library “Wonder Dome!” 😍👏🏻👀
This inflatable 18x18 planetarium, with top of the line projectors, houses a wide array of imaginary 3D fun, and wonder. You really feel that you are part of the scenery. If you have ever wanted to travel to the “Sphere,” or have, you MUST visit our local Public Library Wonder Dome!
Our staff are diligently working to complete setup, and some necessary rules. Public planetarium shows, we hope to start within the next few weeks.
A huge thank you to High Country Council on Government, digital inclusion grant, Tatianna,Fred,and everyone who had the vision to make our planetarium possible, for the community.
We hope you enjoy the “sneak peek,” and are excited for your next adventures, all right here, in Alleghany County. ⭐️ We are HERE for YOU!♥️

August 26, commemorates the struggles of women to be heard, as fierce advocates who gained the right to vote. Also, known as women’s suffrage, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, guarantees all American women the right to vote. President Richard Nixon issued a proclamation in 1972 which designated August 26th as Women’s Rights Day and this was the first official recognition of the day. Later, in 1973, Congress approved the resolution and August 26th officially became Women’s Equality Day. Learn more at your local branch of the Northwestern Regional Library! Our regional staff development day, was held yesterday, for all staff across our 13 branches, and a lot of knowledge was gained,as well as,shared. Did you know your regional public library has access to media, across the State of North Carolina? Did you know Alleghany was part of the original charter,that began the Northwestern library system? We are very proud of all of the librarians before us and where we are today,thanks to you and your patronage. We have an exciting future in the works. We are HERE for YOU! ♥️

On August 21, National Senior Citizens Day recognizes the achievements of the more mature representatives of our nation. This day provides an opportunity to showcase our appreciation for their dedication, accomplishments, and services they give throughout their lives. Some options of activities to do might include: spending time with a senior citizen by doing something fun; help them with chores and errands, encourage them to share stories and memories or maybe plan to volunteer at a seniors home.
