🚑 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏-𝟕 𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐏𝐑 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 🚑

On December 13, 2007, Congress passed a resolution designating June 1-7 as National CPR & AED Awareness Week to spotlight how lives can be saved when more Americans know CPR and how to use an AED.

Each year, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals in the United States. When cardiac arrest happens, every minute matters. Immediate CPR from a bystander can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival.

This week serves as a reminder that survival from sudden cardiac arrest depends not only on training and technology, but also on willingness of bystanders to take action when every second counts.

In partnership with Badgerland Emergency Medical Services and Tomah Area Ambulance Service, we have launched PulsePoint Respond and PulsePoint AED mobile apps in Monroe County.

🔹𝐏𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝 empowers CPR-trained citizens by alerting them to nearby suspected cardiac arrest emergencies and directing them to the closest publicly accessible AED.
🔸𝐏𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐄𝐃 helps communities build a stronger AED registry so lifesaving devices can be located faster during emergencies.

Community members are encouraged to download these free lifesaving apps, and local businesses are encouraged to register their AEDs to help make emergency response faster and more effective.

Due to current weather conditions, the burn permits in the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources fire protection area are suspended.

For those locations not in the DNR's fire protection jurisdiction, burning is strongly discouraged. Current conditions increase the risk of fires spreading rapidly and becoming difficult to control.

Each year, the second full week of April is recognized as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. This week gives us the opportunity to honor the incredible individuals behind the headset.

9-1-1 telecommunicators are the calm in the chaos - the steady, reassuring voice people hear on some of their worst days. They are the vital link between those in need and the help that's on the way. They handle every call with professionalism and dedication.

The work is not easy. It demands long hours, quick thinking, emotional strength, and the ability to handle high-stress difficult situations. Yet, day after day, they show up - ready to serve, ready to help, ready to make a difference.

This week, and every week, we thank our telecommunicators for their dedication, resilience, and compassion. Your impact does not go unnoticed.

Strong southerly winds combined with very dry conditions have resulted in elevated fire weather conditions in our area today. The fire danger is currently 𝙑𝙀𝙍𝙔 𝙃𝙄𝙂𝙃 and burning within the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Protection Area has been suspended. Any burning outside of the protection area is also strongly discouraged until conditions improve.

BOLO: Only in Wisconsin would we wake up to “Have you seen this kangaroo?”

Yes, Chesney the kangaroo has pulled a full-on prison break from Sunshine Farm in Necedah. Last seen bouncing through the area of 23rd & 9th like he’s training for the Olympics.

His owners are out searching with a drone, which feels like peak 2026 energy — but honestly, whatever helps get this handsome guy home.

Most importantly, Chesney is likely scared, so please be careful with him. Please don't challenge him to a boxing match. If you spot him, contact Sunshine Farm - Necedah directly at 773-682-8042 so we can get this sweet guy back where he belongs. 🦘💛
