Spartanburg County School District 3 District Three is comprised of 3 elementary, 1 middle, & 1 high school, & a shared technology center. They serve four-year terms on a staggered basis.

Spartanburg County School District Three, located in the eastern part of Spartanburg County, is approximately three-and-a-half miles wide and 14 miles long. The district includes an area of 71 square miles with seven schools. The district is governed by a citizen Board of Trustees consisting of nine members elected at large. The superintendent is appointed by the board.

As construction continues on the new Broome High School Weight Room, please review the map for updated parking locations and traffic flow details ahead of this week’s football game: 🏈

Key Parking Details:

• Home Fans: Designated parking areas are located along the front driveways and near the athletic fields/tennis courts (blue labels).

• Visiting Fans: Designated parking is available in the lower lots off Cherry Hill Rd (white labels).

• Parking Pass Holders: Follow the road past the construction zone to reach the reserved Parking Pass Parking lot (yellow label). A parking attendant stationed near the construction site will check passes and grant access through to this lot.

Traffic & Departure Flow:

• One-Way Zone: The road extending past the construction site is strictly one-way.

• Leaving the Game (Pass Holders): Drivers in the Parking Pass lot must follow the red directional arrows on the map to exit through the adjacent neighborhood.

• Leaving the Game (General Parking): All vehicles parked in non-pass areas will exit back out the same entrance through which they arrived.

District Three Families,

Moving forward, Spartanburg School District 3 will be using Hometown Ticketing for all Gettys D. Broome High School and Clifdale Middle sporting event tickets and pass purchases. 🎟

Key Details:
• Pre-Orders: You can pre-order tickets ahead of time. Once purchased, simply show your QR code at the gate to be scanned for entry. NOTE: Tickets for a specific event date will be available for purchase 2 weeks ahead of the event date.

• Gate Sales: For those who prefer to buy on-site, cash and card options will still be accepted at the door.

• All Season Passes: Will be good for all ticketed non-playoff home games during the 2026-27 athletic season:
Single Pass: $100
Couples Pass: (2) tickets - $180, can add additional passes for $60 each
Family Pass: (4) tickets - $300, can add additional passes for $50 each

• Broome Student Passes: Broome High School Student passes are now available for purchase online. Students will need to use their entire email address to unlock and buy their passes.

• District Employees: All district employees are granted (1) admission per non-playoff ticketed event by showing your district ID at the gate.

• Parking Passes: Due to the ongoing construction, spots are limited and will only be sold through booster club membership this year.

We had the opportunity to celebrate several exciting student and staff accomplishments during last night's Board of Trustees meeting!

First, we recognized each school's Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year.

Mr. Thomas Swanger - Daniel Morgan Technology Center

Support Staff of the Year:

Mrs. Jamie Bradley - Cowpens Elementary School
Mrs. Janna Wright - Pacolet Elementary School

Mrs. Carolyn Wall - Gettys D. Broome High School

We then recognized Mrs. Jana Calvert, Social Studies Department Chair at Broome High School, for presenting at the Annual Advanced Placement Conference in Las Vegas. Her presentation, Increasing Rigor in the AP Classroom, highlighted strategies for strengthening instruction and enhancing student success in Advanced Placement courses.

Next, we recognized Dr. Nikki Honeycutt and Daniel Morgan Technology Center. During the last few months, DMTC was awarded more than $284,000 in grants:

Duke Energy Foundation Grant - $20,000
Haas Foundation Grant - $12,000
American Welding Society Grant - $42,242.79
Timken Foundation Grant - $100,000
The Home Depot Path to Pro Education Grant - $10,000
Anonymous Partner - $100,000

We then recognized Jordan Haydock, a senior at Broome High School and Daniel Morgan Technology Center. Jordan is one of four DMTC students who was selected as a BMW Rising Scholar.

The BMW Rising Scholars Program is a paid, one-year pre-apprenticeship for high school seniors interested in automotive technology, mechatronics, and advanced manufacturing. Students stay in high school while working up to 16 hours a week at BMW and gaining hands-on technical experience. After successfully completing the program, students can become candidates for the BMW Scholars Program, which allows them to attend a partner technical college full-time while working part-time at BMW. BMW provides tuition assistance for the Scholars Program, helping students earn a degree while gaining real-world work experience.

The D3 Board of Trustees then recognized Mr. Jeff Gibson, Automotive Technology Instructor, and Mr. Clint Swofford, Mechatronics Instructor, at Daniel Morgan Technology Center, for their work in helping prepare students for the BMW Rising Scholars Program.

Senior Citizen Passes will be available for pickup tomorrow, August 18, and Wednesday, August 19 in the lobby of the District Three Community Auditorium from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm!

Passes are free to any District Three resident 60 years of age or older. They allow free admission to all D3 home athletic and fine arts events. You must present a valid ID with your current address to be eligible to receive a Senior Citizen Pass.

We are proud to share that Coach Spencer Dearybury was named the 2026 South Carolina Assistant Football Coach of the Year! The Broyles Award recognizes coaches at both the high school and collegiate levels who demonstrate excellence in coaching, player development, and leadership.

Coach Dearybury serves as the Associate Head Coach of Broome Football and teaches Physical Education and Strength Training at Broome High School.

This summer, Mrs. Jana Calvert, Social Studies Department Chair at Broome High School, had the honor of presenting at the Annual Advanced Placement Conference in Las Vegas, where she represented Spartanburg School District Three. Her presentation, Increasing Rigor in the AP Classroom, highlighted strategies for strengthening instruction and enhancing student success in Advanced Placement courses.

In addition to presenting, Mrs. Calvert participated in think tank sessions with College Board leadership, collaborating with educators from across the country to discuss the future of AP education. She also attended a variety of professional learning sessions, gaining valuable insights and best practices to bring back to District Three.
