BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!!
A NEW Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre is in store for you on Friday, Nov. 10, 6:30 pm at The Inn at Speculator on Route 8! The doors open at 5:30 pm for check-in and social hour. Call Joy before Nov. 3rd at 518-548-3194 to register. The cost is only $25 for the delicious buffet dinner and the play!

This new Murder/Comedy is entitled murder "Matrimony at the Tanner-Pond Wedding" and is a Gem Radio Theatre Production, written by George DeChant and directed by Hannah Jay. The actors are generously donating their time and talents for this fund-raiser for "The Friends of the LP Library" and The Inn is also sponsoring us.

Tiffany Tanner has decided to make her “boy toy” Robert I. ‘RIP’ Pond an honest man in the 2017 social event of the Adirondacks. But RIP is a little queasy in the stomach... is it nerves, something he ate... or something much more deadly? The wedding is the big event of the fall with the Who’s Who of the Adirondacks coming together at The Inn to celebrate this union of wealth and fame. (You, dear audience, are the Who's Who!)

The play, “Murder-Matrimony”, starts out like all comedy capers….. with a murder! It’s possible that the groom (RIP) may not be able to
make the wedding as there is a lot of dissension between the two families. The animosity comes from a lot of directions:
--Tiffany’s bridesmaid, Ria Seerh, was seen in a very uncompromising
yoga move with RIP.
--He also owes just about everyone money because of his gambling addiction, including his best man Barry T. Lush.
--The bride’s sister and wedding organizer, Tyra NiCall, has had it with RIP’s seemingly money-grabbing and even.....
--his mother Poly Michal has become hysterical over RIP’s ability to burn up his family trust in three months. Poly is especially angry that RIP would embarrass the family by marrying a woman 40 years his senior.

The only one without an ax to grind (or pill to spill) is the Reverend DeeDee Clare, who is, by weird irony, the town’s homicide detective. And the question is, will her investigative skills become more valuable than her matrimony expertise?
Each character had a reason to kill the groom, but which one?? There is only one killer and will probably not be telling the whole truth when interviewed.
Understand that the characters want to solve the mystery as
much as you do...after all, they are all suspects and finding the
killer takes the heat off them. (There will be a prize for the right anwer!)
So, give Joy a call now to reserve your spot and join us for this fun evening at the INN!!

Nancy Rankie Shelton !!!

Our latest event was an Author’s Reception at the library on Tuesday night at 7pm for author Nancy Rankie Shelton (Carol Waller’s sister).
Nancy grew up in Amsterdam and Speculator and is a Professor of Education at UMBC in Baltimore, Maryland. When her husband Jack was diagnosed with stage-four metastatic lung cancer, she started keeping a journal and after his death, was sure she could help others who are caring for loved ones with terminal diseases by writing her book “5-13: A Memoir of Love, Loss and Survival.”
Her talk and reading were inspiring and sometimes humerous. Refreshments were coffee and Sue Swift’s delicious cream puffs! The door prize won by Dan Miller was a copy of Nancy’s book. An inspiring and enjoyable evening!

Our latest event was a reception at the library on Tuesday night at 7pm for author Gerard Filitti. We had a nice crowd in spite of the stormy weather.

Gerard, originally from NYC, vacationed with his folks in the Adirondacks when he was young and now has made his home in the Town of Hope! He was practicing law in NYC when his Mom became ill and he gave up his practice to come to her home in Hope to care for her. And that was the start of his first novel, FROZEN TIDE.

Gerard gave us a very fascinating talk about his life and of his book which takes events ripped from the headlines about terrorist plots and puts them together in a suspenseful story that is part thriller, part romance - and full of surprises. He also read us an intriguing snippet from his book and then a great discussion ensued! He is now in the process of writing his second novel with some of the same very interesting characters, but different storyline! (Can't wait!)

During the book signing, there were refreshments to be had and door prizes to be won! Robert Limpert, St. Hubert's Priest, won a copy of Gerard's novel and Marty Shean won a flower arrangement from Country Accents. A captivating and fun evening!

Well folks.... Chef Lou's Low-country Cooking Class was a FABULOUS success!

In attendance were 65 people (some from as far away as Blue Mt Lake, Indian Lake, Northville,Mayfield, etc.) who left with smiles on their faces, full tummies and the recipes in their hands. Chef Lou started out with the Seafood Gumbo, then the Sweet Potato Biscuits drizzled with a honey butter sauce and finished with the Crab Cakes. (We're hoping that he will put them all on his Oak Mt. menu.) Chef Lou is ever the showman and kept us all laughing while teaching the class. A really tasty and fun evening! (We are also going to be on YouTube.)

Sooooo, if you missed this class (or not), watch this page for details on our upcoming events: May...Chef Lou's Crepe Cooking Class (back by popular demand) and June....a brand-new event...Mystery Dinner Theatre at The Inn at Speculator!
