It has come to my attention that the length of our waiting list is being questioned along with whether it is open or not. Our waiting list is in fact open. If you verify that you are a local resident your time should be less than 6 months. This will depend upon when you applied and when the pull happens, some may be a few weeks some may be closer to a couple months. If you are not a local resident or do not provide three proof of residence your wait will be significantly longer some have waited well over a year. Now the people who live in Sioux City and the lakes area this is technically not actually a local preference because you have your own housing authority which is why these have started taking a little longer even though you have proof of address. We must serve local residents first if we run through all local applicants then we can pull these applicants.

This is a reminder about residence preferences. Providing three proof of local residence will move you to our local waiting list. This list does move faster than the general waiting list. These proofs of residence are verified once received and must all be from different sources. We will not accept three proof from the same place. Failure to provide three proofs of local residence puts you on the general waiting list. We will not track you down to provide these items and stating you didn't know is not an excuse. Your application asks for these items, if they are not turned in your response explains this as well as several posts depending on where and how you apply. This is the difference in waiting a couple months and several years on the waiting list.
