🎄STAY TUNED!!!🎅

The Owen County Communications Center will be doing a Santa BOLO (be on the look out) broadcast this Christmas Eve over the radio!

We will also do a facebook LIVE on this page with the broadcast for the citizens and children that won’t have access to a radio! We are aiming for this to be done between 8-9 pm Christmas Eve depending on availability and call volume at this time!!
We look forward to spreading a little bit of Christmas cheer to all of Owen County

Owen County is now under an elevated "Orange - Watch” Travel Status (changed from a previously-issued “Yellow - Advisory” Travel Status) by order of Owen County Emergency Management due to the impact of winter weather, as of 12/13/25 17:48 EST

During a Watch, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.

Owen County 911 is hiring for full time Dispatchers. Applications must be submitted by November 21, 2025.

Owen County FULL Time Dispatcher FAQ's

APPLICANT MUST:

Have a high school diploma or have GED equivalent.

Complete and submit an application. Applications may be mailed, emailed, faxed, or delivered to the above address.

Be 18 years of age.

Not have a conviction of a Class A Misdemeanor or above.

Pass job required schooling (partial list includes CPR certification, Emergency Medical-Fire-Police Dispatch certification, FBI/NCIC operator course, etc.) All training is paid for by your employer once you are hired.

Pass interview and background check process.

Be an Owen County resident or resident of a county that adjoins Owen.

Pass Drug Screen.

Be willing to work flexible hours.

Once hired, the dispatcher will be required to pass periodic drug screening and periodic performance reviews.

HOURS:

The work schedule is flexible and variable. This is a 24X7 operation including holidays. Overtime may be required and is paid at the 1.5 rate. The shifts are 12 hours (36 one week, 48 the next week), with every other weekend off.

BENEFITS:

Full time employees earn Paid Time Off (PTO) based on longevity.

There is medical and life insurance provided by your employer.
