Today we proudly recognize and celebrate Deputy Chief Mark Stover for 25 years of dedicated career service to the Spencer Fire Department as of May 21, 2026. Mark has served our department even longer as a volunteer firefighter; this milestone reflects his years of career employment and continued commitment to the fire service.
For a quarter century, Deputy Chief Stover has demonstrated unwavering professionalism, leadership, dedication, and service to both our department and the community. From emergency response and training to mentoring firefighters, his commitment has helped shape the strength and success of this department.
Over the past 25 years, he has answered countless calls for help, supported his fellow firefighters, and remained dedicated to protecting the citizens we proudly serve. His experience, knowledge, and steady leadership have earned the respect of those he serves alongside every day.

๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ž: After 3 pages - Spencer Fire: 900, 901, 993, 991, 950 with 15 Firefighters, Mutual Aid from Fostoria Fire-Rescue, Spencer Hospital Paramedics, Spencer PD, Clay County Sheriff
๐Ž๐ง ๐’๐œ๐ž๐ง๐ž ๐‘๐ž๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ: Garage fully involved with fire and collapse of the garage roof. Fire was extending into the attic space of the residence.
๐’๐œ๐ž๐ง๐ž ๐’๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ: Engine crew knocked down fire in garage then attacked fire in attic the space. During primary search of the residence the Engine crew located and rescued 1 dog that was uninjured.
The attached garage sustained extreme fire damage. While the attic area of the residence suffered heavy fire damage due to fire extension. All areas of the residence sustained smoke damage.
A neighboring residence suffered radiant heat damage from the fire that melted the vinyl siding.

Today is International Firefightersโ€™ Day.

Today, we pause to recognize the sacrifice, commitment, and quiet dedication of firefighters across this nation. This job asks more of people than most will ever see, it demands courage in uncertain moments, strength when it matters most, and a willingness to step forward when others cannot.

A true firefighter puts others before self. They set aside ego, choosing service over recognition. They lead with humility, carry the weight of hard calls, and continue to show up, day after day, ready to learn, adapt, and grow in a profession that is constantly evolving.
Behind every call is a moment that matters to someone, a life, a family, a future. That responsibility is never taken lightly.

This commitment is what prepares them to be at their best on the day you may need them most.

As the Spencer Fire Department, we are honored to stand together as dedicated, compassionate, and selfless members committed to serving our community!

On scene report: Nothing showing upon arrival, investigating.

Scene summary: A light haze of smoke can be seen in the restrooms. A thorough investigation was done from the roof to the basement and no source was found. The property was turned over to the occupant.
