Today, the members of Chatham Fire Department pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all who have served, and especially to the families carrying the weight of that sacrifice today.

Please take a moment to remember our fallen heroes.

UPDATE: The road is now open to traffic. This photo was taken during the widespread storm response when crews were managing many road closures across the township. We used available cones and signage to immediately warn drivers of the hazard. Our priority was public safety and preventing accidents. ODOT and LMRE were on scene further down to divert cars onto Old Mill Rd, a street NOT passible for semi traffic. Thank you to our crews and others who spent multiple hours managing each incident.

ROAD CLOSURES - avoid Avon Lake Road between 162 and Chippewa for large trees down with powerlines. LMRE is currently on scene handling the situation.

Avoid Vandemark Road north of Spencer Lake due to low lines caused by trees.

Thank you all who came out last weekend! See you this weekend!
