I don’t think I shall ever be able to write another character quite like Grace Percy!! 😂 🕵️

Here is an update on Pepper Basham's newest release. She spoke to our group of ladies who are her fans at Spencer Library just a few weeks ago.

Such a lovely time with Pepper D. Basham this weekend at Sassafras on Main bookstore. I traveled from fangirling to friendship in two short hours. But somehow I walked away without a signed copy of her new release, Suits & Suitability, coming October 14. Be sure to get yours!

Pepper Basham arrived with her mother by her side for our literary event today. Almost everyone at the event had read at least three or more of her books and they were excited to hear the stories behind the books. They laughed, cried and thoroughly engaged with this prolific and multi-talented author. Pepper humbly answered all of our eager questions with kindness ,humor and patience. She donated two of her books to our library, Mistletoe Season and her newest release, Sense and Suitability. Everyone was in awe to hear that she had met and spent time with another favorite author, Julie Klassen. Delectable pastry delights such as chocolate rugelach and madeleines were enjoyed at the end. Three of the attendees had driven from north of Charlotte for this event. One of the ladies had been her professor at Radford in Virginia.

Here are some new books which have just arrived and ready for check-out.

In order to reconcile all of our records for overdue books, please search your bookshelves for any books belonging to Spencer Public library as some books are very overdue. There are no fines, but we need our books back on the shelves and accounted for. Thank you for understanding our need to ask for these returns as soon as possible.

Last week, Queen City News of Charlotte sent a reporter to film a short news story which described the old watch-making history of Spencer which started as a school training disabled adults in repairing watches. The library has an original watch-making desk that was generously donated by Debbie Barnhardt of Barnhardt Jewelers. Monday night this news broadcast at 10pm on Queen City News. I just learned that the broadcast will be aired on this Thursday at 10 pm.
