WILDFIRE DANGER: The Wisconsin DNR has upped the entire state to either a high or very high fire danger for today. Burning is highly discouraged today. Some areas may see their burn permits suspended today as a result of the risk. Please avoid burning debris today. Please be cautious with any other activities that could potentially start a wildfire.

Please make sure to call the fire department for updates on the fire danger level and a burning permit prior to burning.

Severe Weather Alert for Central Wisconsin

The forecast for Central Wisconsin includes the potential for severe thunderstorms. Residents within the Spencer Fire District are encouraged to closely monitor local weather sources and have a plan in place to seek shelter if severe weather develops.

The dome will be open and staffed at 3pm

When do the sirens sound in the Village of Spencer?
In partnership with the Spencer Fire Department, the Village of Spencer follows Wisconsin Outdoor Warning Siren Best Practices. Sirens are activated under two conditions:

• A National Weather Service Tornado Warning
• Extreme winds or severe weather, with measured or imminent winds at or above 70 mph

If you hear the sirens activated, seek shelter immediately.

Community Storm Shelter:
The Dome at the Spencer School is a designated storm shelter for those who are unable to safely shelter in place.

Storm Monitoring Efforts:
The Spencer Fire Department has trained storm spotters who may be deployed to monitor incoming weather and provide real-time information to help keep our community safe.

Our response to severe weather is only as good as the information we receive, and while we have local weather spotters, their visibility may be limited depending on conditions.

How you can help:

If you see a funnel cloud or tornado, call 911 immediately.

Be ready to provide:
• Your location
• The location of the funnel cloud/tornado
• The direction it is traveling

Important: Never put yourself in danger to report severe weather. Your safety comes first.

Stay alert. Stay safe.

With the storm approaching we will have the dome staffed at 3pm. We will have spotters out outside of the village. Sirens are activated only if there is a tornado warning or one is spotted.

Stay safe and take care.
Troy

Congratulations to Spencer Fire Chief Troy Shull & Assistant Chief Daniel Wall on becoming Certified Live Fire Instructors.

This accomplishment reflects their dedication to training, safety, and excellence in the fire service. Their commitment ensures that our firefighters receive the highest level of instruction in live fire environments, helping keep both responders and our community safe.

27 Fire Instructors recently finished their Live Fire Instructor course at Mid-State. Today was their practical exam to complete their certification requirements. A big THANK YOU to the Stevens Point Fire Department for sending over a half dozen instructors to help facilitate the exam, as 21 of the students are Mid-State instructors who themselves became students to complete this important certification. The class consisted of fire instructors from Adams County Fire District, Big Flats FD, Dewey FD, Grand Rapids FD, Hull FD, Marshfield FD, Mosinee Fire District, Nekoosa FD, Pittsville FD, Plover FD, Port Edwards FD, Riverside Fire District, Spencer FD, Vesper FD, Wild Rose FD, and Wisconsin Rapids FD.

Thank you to all participants for your dedication to the industry and to the communities that you serve. We recognize that your selflessness is what makes this all possible.

Please continue to keep your vents clear! Stay safe!!

🌶️ Chiefs Chili Cook-Off Recap! 🌶️

This week, members of the Spencer Fire Department and their families came together for our first annual Chiefs Chili Cook-Off. The Fire Chief and all three Assistant Chiefs each cooked up a pot of chili, and the competition was fierce!

After some very close judging, Assistant Chief Pat Mateer took home the title for Best Chili 🏆🔥.

Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make it a fun night of food, family, and friendly competition!
