TRAINING FOR THE UNTHINKABLE 🚨

Yesterday morning, members of the Spencer Community Fire District participated in a mock Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) training exercise designed to test our crews in a large-scale emergency.

The scenario: 🚌💥🚌 A school bus T-boned another school bus, resulting in numerous simulated patients with injuries ranging from minor to critical.

Crews were challenged with quickly assessing the scene, establishing command, triaging patients, prioritizing treatment, coordinating resources, and preparing multiple patients for transport—all while managing the organized chaos that comes with a mass casualty incident.

While we hope we never have to respond to an incident like this in real life, training for the worst helps make sure we’re prepared when our community needs us most.

A huge thank you to Black River Local Schools and everyone who helped organize the drill, participated as patients, and assisted in making the scenario as realistic as possible. Also assisting us with the training was Wellington Firefighter's Association, LaGrange Firefighter Association, Chatham Township Fire Department and Lodi Fire and Rescue Ohio

We train together so we’re ready to respond together. 🚒🚑

This meal is open to everybody and carryout is available and did we mention that it is free?! So bring your friends, your family and your appetite. The two best types of meals are the ones you don’t have to cook and ones that are free and this checks both of those boxes. We hope to see you all tonight.

🚨Everybody is invited!!🚨 Come join us for our FREE community meal. Last month was a great turnout and we are hoping to keep getting bigger.

This month we will have grilled chicken, Alfredo pasta, summer squash and a cookie. Carryout is available upon request.

Stop out at the Spencer United Methodist Church from 5-7 on July 27th. We look forward to seeing everybody there. Feel free to share!

Stop by the Spencer Firemen’s Association Family Auxiliary - SFAFA booth tomorrow at the 4th of July festival. They will be doing their donkey plop bingo again which is always a hit, plus there is a chance to take home $500

There are only 100 spots available to purchase so make sure you stop out and buy them early before they are all gone.

All the proceeds for this fundraiser go right into supporting our firefighters with meals and refreshments while on calls and during trainings. We always appreciate everything that they do for us.

Everything is hot, fresh and ready to go! Stop by the fire station for our free community meal that is open to everybody. We will be here from 5 to 7 or until the food runs out.

Please come join us on Monday for our first Free Community Meal!! Due to a change of plans, we will be set up at the fire station this month from 5pm to 7pm (or until the food runs out). This meal is for anybody, so please come and enjoy a Hamburger or Hot Dog and your favorite summertime picnic sides and hang out with your favorite fire department members. Carry out is also available if you are in a rush to get home.

Our hope is to continue doing this meal on the last Monday of every month so please spread the word and we hope to see everybody there.
