BOCES 2 Career and Technical Education student Max Baetzold was named the 2026 Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES recipient of the Dr. Michael C. O’Laughlin Outstanding Senior Award. They were presented with the honor at a recognition dinner held May 14 at BOCES 2.

A Culinary Arts student from Churchville-Chili Central School District, Baetzold was selected for this distinguished award based on scholarship, leadership, service and character.

One senior from each high school and BOCES in Monroe County is chosen annually for this honor, which is presented by the Monroe County Council of School Superintendents.

The award is named in memory of Dr. O’Laughlin, a respected educator who served as BOCES 2 district superintendent from 2007 until his passing in 2009. In 2012, the award was renamed in his honor to recognize his decades of service to education and his deep commitment to students across the region.

Last week, at the NYLA/SSL Conference in Ithaca, NY, BOCES 2 School Library System Coordinator Jim Belair was the conference chair. School librarians from BOCES 2 component districts Brockport, Churchville, Greece, Hilton, Kendall, Spencerport and Wheatland were in attendance and are pictured with award-winning author Kelly Yang.
