The Town of Ogden Police department is a full service law enforcement agency, providing numerous services to the residents and visitors of the Village of Spencerport and the Town of Ogden. The Town of Ogden was founded on January 17, 1817 and the Ogden Police Department was established on December 7, 1935. Ogden PD was the first agency of its size to be accredited in the State of New York. The age

ncy was re-accredited in 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016, and most recently in 2021. The Ogden Police Department has a total of 20 full and part-time employees. Chief Travis Gray oversees the agency. The law enforcement division of the agency consists of three Sergeants, one uniformed Investigator, seven full time patrol officers, one part time patrol officer, and one part time D.A.R.E. officer who teaches in the four local elementary schools. Members of the Ogden PD are dispatched by the Monroe County Emergency Communications Department, a nationally accredited emergency service dispatch center. Training is largely conducted at the nearby Public Safety Training Facility, which is operated by Monroe Community College. The agency also has a Special Police Unit, which consists of 12 volunteer members. These members assist the police department with many functions, such as lock-outs to vehicles, house checks for our citizens who are vacation, and public safety functions during the Spencerport Fire District parade and carnival. Special Police officers also assist with disabled motorists, traffic direction and STOP DWI road checks. Animal Control is responsible for improving animal relations with the public and enforcing the local dog control laws. The Town of Ogden Animal Control is certified by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to handle nuisance wildlife, as well as being equipped with the most modern tools to assist with removal of bats, squirrels, opossums and raccoons. For wildlife causing damage, we offer Have-A-Heart cage traps for Ogden/Spencerport residents at no charge.

***Menacing Investigation***

Earlier this evening, OPD officers responded to the Amazon facility on Paragon Drive for a report of a subject who displayed a firearm. Upon further investigation, it was determined that an individual had displayed a pellet gun only. Despite rumors circulating on social media, no one was shot, and no actual firearm was used.

Our officers are still actively investigating this incident and have the aforementioned subject in custody. Further details will be released when appropriate.

Here is your reminder to send in your entries for a chance to win the August 2026 Pet of the Month!
Entries will be accepted between the 15th and 20th of August!
The Town of Ogden would like to have the community choose a "Pet of the Month". A new pet will be chosen every month, and each winner will be earning a very special certificate for their humans to showcase, as well as a special surprise from Woofs Canine Club & Indoor Dog Park in Webster!

Here are the rules:
*One entry per month per owner - must live in the Town of Ogden.
*One winner per month - if there is more than one animal in the picture: the animals, if chosen, will win together.
*Any type of animal can be chosen; this is not restricted to cats and dogs only.
*Send entries via Facebook messenger to, The Town of Ogden Police Department.
*PLEASE INCLUDE PETS NAME, OWNERS NAME AND ADDRESS in the message. This information will NOT be shared to the public.
*The picture with the most likes (on the original post) will be chosen for the Pet of the Month!
PLEASE NOTE:
All entries that are submitted will need to be received between the 15th and 20th of each month. The pictures will then be uploaded the next business day. On the last day of the month, the winner will be announced, and a certificate can be picked up or mailed!
