Hey Families! Register today....Take a break from screens and schedules and come celebrate the Summer Solstice with your family. Join Rooted Life Lessons, Dickinson County 4H and ISU Extension Dickinson County & Forest Spirit LLC for a fun, guided nature walk at Horseshoe Bend North Shelter, where kids and adults can explore together, listen to the birds, feel the trees, and discover the little surprises of the forest. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, this walk helps everyone relax, sparks curiosity and creativity, and gives families a chance to connect with each other and with nature in a joyful, playful way.
Sit mats will be provided. You may want to bring a water bottle and small camp chair or blanket for your comfort. This event is geared towards families. Registration is required by June 18,2026 at 4PM. Participant investment is $30.75 per family

Take a moment to unwind, disconnect, and nourish your soul as we gather for the Summer Solstice—the longest day of the year and a gentle reminder to pause and embrace the light. Join ISU Extension Dickinson County & Forest Spirit LLC for a peaceful guided walk designed to engage all your senses as you explore the serene beauty of Horseshoe Bend North Shelter. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, this experience promotes stress relief, sparks creativity, lowers blood pressure, fosters relaxation, strengthens your connection with nature, and offers many other health benefits.

Sit mats will be provided. You may want to bring a water bottle and small camp chair or blanket for your comfort. This event is geared toward those 16+ Registration is required by June 17, 2026 at 4PM. Participant investment is $20.50

The National Weather Service is forecasting severe weather for much of Iowa today (Monday, May 18). Residents should prepare for damaging winds, large hail, flash flooding, and the potential for tornadoes.

The storm system is developing in western Iowa and will move east throughout the day, with impacts expected in western Iowa by late afternoon and reaching central Iowa later this evening.
