Spirit Lake Fire Protection District This is the official page for Spirit Lake Fire Protection District in Spirit Lake, Idaho. We proudly serve both Bonner and Kootenai Counties.

The District provides Fire and Emergency Medical Services to approximately 15,750 people, which reside in both Kootenai and Bonner County. The majority of the firefighter and medical personnel are dual trained. When an emergency call comes in, they are toned and respond within minutes. The District receives support from citizens and local businesses whenever needed, and the District thanks the com

munity for their continued support regarding Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Without community support, our efforts would go without notice.

The Spirit Lake Fire Protection Board of Fire Commissioners will be filling a vacancy on the Board for subdistrict 1. The Board will fill the vacancy at a public meeting on May 13, at 9 a.m.
The person selected will take office immediately and serve the remainder of the unexpired term through 12/31/2027. Compensation is set at $100 per meeting. The Board usually holds two meetings per month, but additional special meetings may be scheduled as needed.
Letters of interest for the position need to be in the District office by 4 p.m. on May 8, 2026. Applicants must have been a resident for at least one year within the boundaries of subdistrict 1 and be registered to vote.

Please be advised! A significant wind event is forecasted to arrive late tonight and lasting through Wednesday. A High Wind Warning is in effect from 10 PM Tuesday to 4 PM Wednesday.

The most critical window for damaging winds will be a burst between 2 AM and 6 AM Wednesday morning. During this time, we expect gusts of 50 to 70 mph, with some localized areas seeing even higher speeds with thunderstorms. Strong winds will continue through the morning and early afternoon.
