The Dickinson County Republican Convention will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Spirit Lake Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College at 800 21st St; Spirit Lake. Enter at the south door. Doors open at 8:30 am. Convention starts at 9:00 am. Delegates and Alternates were elected at the Dickinson County Caucus.

The business of the meeting is to:

Elect 8 delegates and 8 Alternates to the District Convention held on April 25, 2026 and State Convention held on June 13, 2026

Elect 1 committee member to each of the District Convention’s Credentional, Organization, Platform and Rules Committees

Create a county platform

Today our dear friend Vergene will be laid to rest and join her beloved husband Ed in the Heavenly arms of our Lord and Savior. Barbara and I cherish her warmth and friendship and send our condolences to her loved ones. Vergene served as my Dickinson County Chair for each of my Senate campaigns.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Vergene Donovan—a pillar of strength, faith, and leadership in Dickinson County and across our state.

Vergene wasn’t just a trusted Republican leader—she was also a dear friend. For decades, she worked tirelessly to build her community, strengthen our party, and inspire others to get involved and make a difference.

She welcomed everyone with warmth and grace, always leading by example and never losing sight of what truly mattered—faith, family, and the future of Iowa.

Kevin and I extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, her friends, and the entire Dickinson County GOP. Vergene’s legacy of service, friendship, and devotion will continue to inspire all of us who had the privilege to know her.
