The Splendora Police Department remains committed to transparency and keeping our community informed about police activity occurring throughout the City of Splendora.

During August 2026, SPD recorded 2,112 total incidents and officer activities. It is important to understand that this number does not represent 2,112 crimes. The total includes calls for service, officer-initiated activity, proactive patrols, administrative entries, report writing, training, community-safety checks, and other law enforcement functions.

In addition to responding to calls for service and reported offenses, SPD officers continued conducting proactive patrols, building checks, investigations, traffic enforcement, welfare checks, and other community-safety activities throughout the month.

These statistics reflect the broad range of responsibilities handled by our officers every day—from responding to emergencies and investigating criminal activity to checking on someone's welfare, assisting another agency, investigating crashes, and proactively patrolling our neighborhoods and businesses.

TROPICAL STORM EDOUARD – WEATHER UPDATE

The Splendora Police Department continues to closely monitor Tropical Storm Edouard as the system approaches the Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast today.

According to ABC13, Edouard continues to strengthen and is expected to make landfall near Sabine Pass along the Texas/Louisiana state line, potentially as a strong tropical storm or possibly a low-end Category 1 hurricane.

The current forecast track has shifted somewhat farther east, which may reduce some of the wind impacts across portions of Southeast Texas. However, heavy tropical rainfall and the potential for flash flooding remain concerns for our area.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

• Heavy rainfall will become increasingly possible today as Edouard approaches the coast, with the greatest initial flooding threat generally east of I-45.

• Tonight into Wednesday, the flooding threat is expected to shift north of I-10, with Montgomery County among the areas that could experience periods of heavy rainfall.

• Even after Edouard’s circulation begins to weaken, wraparound moisture from the Gulf could continue producing showers and thunderstorms across Southeast Texas.

• A Tropical Storm Warning is currently in effect for portions of the Upper Texas Coast, including southern Liberty and Chambers counties. Isolated tornadoes may also be possible within some of the stronger thunderstorms associated with the system.

FOR OUR SPLENDORA COMMUNITY:

Please remain weather aware throughout today and Wednesday. Conditions can change quickly with tropical systems, and localized heavy rainfall could result in water accumulating on roadways and in low-lying areas.

Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

TROPICAL STORM EDOUARD – WEATHER UPDATE

The Splendora Police Department continues to closely monitor Tropical Storm Edouard and its potential impacts across Southeast Texas.

Edouard remains a relatively small tropical system, which means even a slight change in its track could make a significant difference in rainfall and wind impacts across our area. Current forecasts indicate the system could strengthen before making landfall Tuesday afternoon or evening.

For the Splendora and East Montgomery County area, our primary concern continues to be heavy rainfall and the potential for localized flash flooding. The greatest concern is expected from late Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning as the system moves inland.

Residents should remain weather-aware and be prepared for changing conditions. Secure loose outdoor items, keep phones and other devices charged, and use extreme caution if traveling during periods of heavy rainfall.

Never drive through a flooded roadway. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

The Splendora Police Department will continue monitoring Edouard and will provide additional information to our community as conditions warrant.

ONE IN CUSTODY FOR RECKLESS DRIVING

A supervisor with the Splendora Police Department observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed while repeatedly cutting in and out of traffic on Interstate 69.

The vehicle was subsequently measured traveling 92 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone.

Following the traffic stop and investigation, the driver was placed into custody for Reckless Driving and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Reckless driving is more than just speeding. Aggressive speeds combined with unsafe lane changes significantly reduce reaction time and place innocent motorists and their passengers at risk of serious injury or death.

The Splendora Police Department remains committed to proactive traffic enforcement and keeping Interstate 69 and our community roadways safe.

WEATHER UPDATE – INVEST 97L

The Splendora Police Department is closely monitoring Invest 97L, a tropical disturbance currently moving through the Gulf and approaching the Upper Texas and Louisiana coast.

At this time, the system has not significantly strengthened. However, additional development remains possible before the system reaches the coast on Tuesday.

For Splendora and the surrounding area, the primary concern at this time is the potential for periods of heavy rainfall rather than significant wind impacts.

Current forecasts indicate rain chances will increase early Tuesday, with the greatest potential for heavier rainfall occurring throughout the day Tuesday. The exact location of the heaviest rainfall remains uncertain and will depend on the track and development of the system.

Residents are encouraged to remain weather-aware and monitor updated forecasts over the next 24–48 hours. Tropical systems can change quickly, and periods of heavy rainfall may result in localized street flooding and rapidly changing roadway conditions.

The Splendora Police Department will continue monitoring Invest 97L and its potential impacts to our community. We are prepared to respond as needed and will provide additional information should conditions warrant.

If heavy rainfall occurs, please use caution while traveling and never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway.

In today’s post we provide the latest information on Invest 97L, which is meandering west toward Texas this morning. The primary threat is heavy rain and the potential for flash flooding, particularly east of Houston heading into midweek. We’ll be providing regular updates today and Tuesday.

Officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash where the driver fled the scene. The victim followed the vehicle and provided officers with updated location information. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, the driver displayed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Stop and Give Information.

Officers responded to an attempt-to-locate, regarding a vehicle reportedly driving all over the roadway. Officers located the vehicle and made contact with the driver, who showed signs of intoxication. After conducting a roadside investigation, the driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Montgomery County Jail without incident.

CAUGHT WITH HIS PANTS DOWN

Splendora Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after the driver allegedly ran a stop sign.

When the officer approached the vehicle to make contact with the driver, there was an unexpected twist, the driver was not wearing any pants.

During the initial contact, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. A roadside DWI investigation was conducted, and the driver was subsequently determined to be intoxicated and unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.

The driver was placed into custody for Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Container and transported to the Montgomery County Jail without incident.

While the lack of pants certainly made this traffic stop a little more memorable, impaired driving is no laughing matter. If you choose to drink, don’t drive. Have a plan, designate a sober driver, or find another safe way home.

All persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
