SLOW ROLL, WRONG CHOICE

Officers with the Splendora Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 69 after observing a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. After emergency lights were activated, the vehicle continued for approximately one mile in a “slow roll” before eventually coming to a stop.

Upon making contact with the driver, officers developed probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle. As officers attempted to detain the driver, the individual became combative and actively resisted officers’ efforts. Officers quickly gained control of the situation and safely took the driver into custody without injury to any parties involved.

During the investigation, it was determined that all occupants of the vehicle had prior deportation orders. Further investigation revealed that one of the occupants had been previously identified as armed and dangerous.

The driver was transported to the Montgomery County Jail on applicable charges. The two passengers were turned over to federal law enforcement partners for further immigration enforcement proceedings.

The Splendora Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts that enhance the safety and security of our community while continuing to work closely with our local, state, and federal partners

BAR DISTURBANCE ENDS IN ARREST

Last night, Splendora officers responded to a disturbance in progress at Montana’s Bar. Upon arrival, officers quickly separated all parties and began investigating.

Officers learned the suspect had been told to leave by staff, then assaulted a victim in the parking lot. When an employee went outside and again told the suspect to leave, the suspect pushed the employee against the business door, held them there, and threatened to beat them.

A Good Samaritan heard the commotion, stepped in to help, and was also assaulted by the suspect. The Good Samaritan defended himself and the employee until officers were able to take the suspect into custody before he could leave in his vehicle.

The suspect was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury and Terroristic Threat. He was treated at the hospital, medically cleared, and transported to the Montgomery County Jail without further incident.

Great work by our officers, Montana’s staff, and the Good Samaritan who stepped up to protect others
