Zappone’s allies were caught red-handed.

Their mailers flooded District 1 — but their PDC reports show $0 in contributions. So who paid for it? They won’t say. That’s dark money — plain and simple.

Meanwhile, SGGA discloses every single dollar. Spokane’s elections should be decided by Spokane voters — not undisclosed Seattle money sneaking in through shell PACs.

📌 Read the complaint we filed to hold them accountable.
Don’t fall for the smoke and mirrors.

Last night, the Spokane City Council approved its new homelessness ordinance, effectively dismantling Prop 1. While the Mayor has described this proposal as “something better than Prop 1,” the general sentiment among the council, residents who spoke out, and local business owners who showed up in a massive way suggests that this measure is far from "better".

Our children, residents, and business owners deserve to feel safe in our city. We need meaningful enforcement. Ignoring the will of the voters is not leadership — and it is certainly not “leadership that listens.”

The City Council is now hearing public comment on the Home Starts Here Initiative. The room is packed with residents fired up to speak out against the ordinance!

🚨The Spokane City Council is set to vote on the Mayor and Council Majority’s hallmark homeless ordinance tonight! Except the people didn’t ask for this. Voters overwhelmingly voted for Prop 1 - to ban homeless encampment within 1,000 feet of schools, parks, playgrounds, and childcare facilities.

We’re at City Council tonight! Stay tuned for live updates as they happen!

Councilmember Zappone promised a four-point plan to tackle homelessness—but after nearly four years, the results are clear: four points, no progress. His plan has failed our community.

This November, it’s time for accountability. Let’s choose leaders who will deliver real results.

“Something better than Prop 1.” Where has this “better than Prop 1” been for the last 18 months?

After 18 months of inaction, now you want to rewrite what voters already demanded. The community spoke loud and clear: we want Prop 1 to protect the very children your administration has failed to stand up for.

In 2023, Lisa Brown and the City Council majority promised “leadership that listens”.

But now, they’re ignoring nearly 75% of Spokane voters who supported Prop 1—banning homeless encampments near schools, parks, and childcare centers.

Instead, they’re pushing a fringe policy backed by a small few and refusing to engage. This isn’t leadership—it’s a betrayal of the people they vowed to represent.

🚨Attend City Council tonight and tell them you oppose this ordinance! Make your voice heard—demand they respect the will of the voters and protect our children.

Spokane deserves better. 👎

As the Spokane City Council prepares to reform local homelessness laws, a slate of business groups has asked for carve-outs to make it easier to remove homeless people when they linger near downtown businesses.

In 2023, Spokane voters sent a clear message by passing Prop 1: protect the places where our kids go to learn and play—our schools 🏫, parks 🌳, and playgrounds 🛝.

Now, the Mayor and City Council are handing out 7-day passes for homeless encampments to stay on our streets—even near these very spaces.

This isn’t compassion—it’s making our children’s spaces less safe, less clean, and less secure.

👎 Spokane families deserve better.

Two months after the state Supreme Court overturned Spokane’s voter-approved anti-homeless camping law, the Spokane City Council is set to overhaul its suite of homelessness laws in a way supporters argue simplifies and streamlines the law, but that critics call either toothless or too sharp.

🚨 The Spokane City Council seat representing the South Hill is about to be vacant. This is a critical opportunity to elect a leader who will prioritize what matters: public safety, housing, and real solutions to homelessness. South Hill deserves strong, effective leadership. 🗳️

Spokane City Councilwoman Lili Navarrete, believed to be the first Hispanic or immigrant member of the Spokane City Council, will step down in the coming months, she said Thursday.
