What a week, Jaguars! We jumped right into learning, made memories, shared LOTS of smiles, and had an absolute blast along the way! 📚✨ From busy classrooms to awesome recess adventures, Lincoln Heights was buzzing with energy all week long!

Our newest Jaguars started this week, and those bright eyes, big smiles, curious minds, and tiny-but-MIGHTY personalities are already lighting up our school! 🐾💫

🐆🎉 BIG EYES. BIG SMILES. BIG KINDERGARTEN EXCITEMENT! 🎉

Today, half of our Kindergarten Jaguars officially took on their very first day of school! 💙📚✨

There were big eyes, excited smiles, curious questions, tiny backpacks, and SO much energy as our newest Jaguars stepped into their classrooms and began their Kindergarten adventure! 🥹🐆

Tomorrow, we welcome our second group of Kinders, and then on Monday, everyone will be together for the official start of Kindergarten for our whole crew!

Starting in smaller groups gives our youngest learners a chance to ease into their new routines, meet friends, explore their classrooms, and get comfortable with their brand-new school world. 💙

The halls were filled with students ready to learn, laugh, reconnect, make new friends, and jump into a brand-new year—and WOW, did our Jaguars bring the excitement! 🐾🔥

What an incredible first day and an even more incredible way to kick off a year of BUILDING BRIGHT FUTURES! 🌟

LITTLE SLUGGERS: Registration for our PreK-2nd grade T-ball program with Spokane Indians Youth Baseball & Softball closes Aug. 13, but waitlist registrations will be accepted as long as space is available on teams!

Teams are formed based on neighborhood elementary school so kids can learn baseball fundamentals and teamwork with their peers.

🚸✨ Calling All Community Superheroes! ✨🚸

Want one of the best jobs in town? Come help keep our Jaguars safe while making a BIG impact every single school day! 🐆💛

We're looking for a few friendly faces to join our Lincoln Heights Crossing Guard Team for the 2026–2027 school year!

Our recess and lunch supervisor crew is already rockin' it, but we're hoping to find a few more amazing people who can help students safely cross before and after school. You'll be greeted with smiles, waves, high-fives, and plenty of "Good mornings!" from some pretty awesome kids.


Being a crossing guard isn't just about helping students cross the street—it's about becoming part of the Lincoln Heights family. You'll get to know our incredible students, connect with staff and families, and become one of the familiar faces that helps make our school such a special place.

Baseball players in 5th grade and up are invited to try out for the South Hill Bolts on Thursday, Aug. 13, 5:30-7 p.m. at the Peperzak Middle School Baseball Fields.

“We're building competitive, character-first teams for players ready to train year-round and represent the South Hill with pride,” shared Coach Brian Huffman.

COME TOGETHER: Hundreds of representatives from dozens of organizations gathered at Shadle Park High School this morning with a single goal: supporting families impacted by the Spokane Complex Wildfires.

Spokane Public Schools superintendent Adam Swinyard and Innovia Foundation CEO Shelly O'Quinn convened the assembly of government agencies, nonprofit organizations, faith community leaders, health care providers, educators and many other entities engaged in fire recovery efforts.

FREE DAY CAMP EXTENDED: The free emergency drop-in camp for children ages 4 and older at Shadle Park High School (4327 N. Ash St.) will be available every day this week, Aug. 3-7, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This is intended to give parents and caregivers impacted by wildfires a safe place for their children while they take a break, run errands, or address other immediate needs. Children do not need to be enrolled in Spokane Public Schools or live within SPS boundaries to attend.

Lunch will be provided at noon through the federal free summer meals program. Activities will be supervised by Spokane Public Schools staff. Families can also access a clothing closet and connect with resources like HEART and CHAS Health.

We will continue to provide updates with resources for families and staff as information is received. For additional information, visit spokaneschools.org/article/3055231.
