YWCA Spokane

YWCA Spokane Since 1903, YWCA Spokane has been serving the Spokane community, creating safety, opportunity, and lasting change. Visit us at ywcaspokane.org.

Since 1903, YWCA Spokane has been helping women and children overcome social, economic, and personal barriers in order to accomplish their goals and achieve healthier and more fulfilling lives. Today our areas of focus are supporting victims of intimate partner violence (IPV), building economic empowerment, promoting early childhood education, and confronting racial and social justice issues that

negatively impact our clients and our community. YWCA Spokane envisions a community in which IPV is no longer tolerated, and embraces this vision through a continuum of wrap-around services: 24-hour Helpline and Safe Shelter, Advocacy Support Center, Mental Health Services, Child Advocacy, Civil Legal Assistance, Legal Advocacy, Economic Empowerment Advocacy, and free Drop-In Childcare. YWCA Spokane impacted the lives of over 14,000 women, men, children, and families each year. By working at the intersections of inequality, poverty, and IPV we are able to disrupt longstanding societal patterns of trauma. To learn more visit ywcaspokane.org/impact.

Here's a happy note to send you into the weekend with some good community-impact vibes.

Today, our friends at Columbia Bank dropped off brand new shoes gathered through a recent drive so all the 3 & 4 year olds in our ECEAP classrooms have new tennis shoes to start the school year off right. We are so grateful for this support!

Making sure every child in our free preschool classrooms has new, comfortable, appropriate footwear helps create a positive learning environment for all. Thank you, Columbia Bank, for this and for the many ways you continue to make a difference in our community.

YWCA Spokane's free preschool program is currently accepting new enrollments. All of our classrooms have received the 5 start early achiever rating. A link with more information is in the comments.

Innovia recently presented YWCA Spokane with a $15,000 Community Grant to support a Domestic Violence Crisis Advocate position, helping ensure survivors have access to safety planning, emotional support, education, and critical community resources.

For more than 123 years, YWCA Spokane has served our community with a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Today, the organization is our region's main provider of domestic violence services, serving 13,000-14,000 individuals each year through emergency shelter, advocacy, housing support, prevention education, and more.

The funded Crisis Advocate position provides individualized support through in-person, phone, and telehealth services, helping survivors make informed decisions, access resources, and move toward safety and stability.

This grant was made possible through Innoviaโ€™s 2026 Community Grants Program, funded by donors who have established flexible charitable funds to address critical needs and emerging opportunities across the Foundation's 20-county region. Find a full list of awardees at goinnovia.org/CGP-26.

Meet Jim!

When asked what he wants out of the future, he had two answers: make it to 3 digits, and help others along the way.

Jim is one of our YWCA Legacy Circle members, and his strategy for the future includes a gift to YWCA Spokane in his estate plans. His reason was simple: he knew he wouldn't spend everything he'd saved, and he wants to do something good with what will be left.

We want to take this moment to celebrate Jim and everyone in our Legacy Circle, who look at what theyโ€™ve built in their lifetime and ask what else it can do. By making a gift in their estate plans, they choose to invest in the YWCA Spokane Forever Fund, our endowment for the future. Those contributions allow us to plan in decades, not fiscal years, so we can respond faster in a crisis, invest in prevention before harm happens, and shape long-term solutions. So one day, we can make domestic violence a thing of the past.
