Here's another six-word story! Barb works with members of our community who are actively working towards recovery from opioid dependency through our Opioid Treatment Services Program. If you haven't already heard, this program just moved to a new location in the fall! Staff in our Treatment Services Program work to provide a range of behavioral health services and medication-assisted treatment to support individuals on their journey towards recovery.
Barb's six-word story is a nod to the stigma that can be harmful to people in recovery and is a reminder that while the path others might walk is different from ours, they still hold an important and valuable place in our community. #nphw

Celebrate National Public Health Week: srhd.org/nphw
How can we ensure that those who experience inequities in Spokane County receive the resources they need to achieve their highest level of health?
Adam from our Health Equity Team believes it's all about joining partners to build trust and keep the lines of communication open. Spokane Regional Health District is proud to connect and partner with those in our community who support our historically underserved populations, including those from various ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. When we know what resources are needed to achieve better health, we can help improve access.
Last summer, our Health Equity Team worked with the Carl Maxey Center to provide heat safety resources, and this past November, they partnered with Odyssey Youth Movement during Transgender Day of Remembrance to provide N95 masks and additional health resources. Going forward, our Health Equity team is looking to expand access to important public health resources by offering a wider variety of translated materials. We appreciate all they do to support the health and wellness of everyone in our community! Celebrate #NPHW at: srhd.org/nphw
Facebook Live 4/3/24 - National Public Health Week
During today’s Facebook Live, Health Officer Dr. Francisco Velazquez is joined by fellow SRHD staff as we celebrate National Public Health Week. Our public health team has been preparing stories to share with each other and the community, but there’s a catch – they can only use six words! Join us to hear how impactful six words can be.
To kickstart National Public Health Week, we want to share a six-word story from Brittany, a research scientist in our Data Center. Data plays an important role in helping shape, influence, and protect the well-being of those in our community. That’s why every other year, Spokane Regional Health District sends out a Quality of Life survey to thousands of randomly selected households in Spokane County.
Our Data Center uses this information to decide where resources might be needed to better support families and individuals. The survey also gives SRHD and community partners important information on where changes and improvements can be made. Data helps us paint a picture, or as Brittany says, "a hidden story," that can be used for the good of community. #nphw

Happy National Public Health Week! The impact of public health can be told in many ways and with many words. But what if we could only use six?
To celebrate this special week, we asked staff here at Spokane Regional Health District to share a six-word story that encapsulates their unique perspective and understanding of the work they do and how, as a team, their program works to support better health for all. Stay tuned throughout the week to read and listen to a few selected six-word stories from staff at SRHD! #nphw
