This week we're shining the spotlight on Michelle Hess of our partner agency, Pioneer Human Services!

Michelle came to workforce development after 14 years at Pioneer's Carlyle Unit. When that program shut down, she transferred into an open position on the Workforce Development team.

As she puts it: "At the time, I didn't fully know what I was getting into, but it ended up being a great fit."
Ask Michelle why she does this work, and her passion for people comes through right away:
"I believe everyone has the ability to be their best self and reach their full potential. Sometimes people just need support, encouragement, and someone who believes in them along the way. I enjoy connecting with people, helping them overcome barriers, and celebrating their successes. Seeing someone gain confidence, achieve a goal, or move forward in their life is what keeps me motivated."

That same heart shows up in the values that guide her work: "Compassion and integrity are at the heart of everything I do. I strive to treat everyone with respect, meet people where they are, and provide honest, dependable support."

And what does she enjoy most about the job? The people, of course: "I enjoy the customer service aspect of the work and the opportunity to build relationships with people. Every person's journey is different, and I appreciate being able to support individuals as they work toward their goals."
