Today Shadle Park High School hosted an Adapted Field Day for special education students from Spokane Public Schools and surrounding districts, welcoming around 400 high school students for a beautiful sunny day full of fun, connection, and smiles! 🌞

Northwest Autism Center was excited to be part of the Community Zone with a sensory bin table where students had to guess what they were touching. The most surprisingly controversial item? Slightly wet sponge bits! You either loved it or hated it, with absolutely no in between! 😂

We loved getting to spend the day with so many amazing students and hope everyone had as much fun as we did. 💙

Thanks to our incredible staff for making this day happen!

📸 We’re so excited to share some of our favorite moments from the 11th Annual Steps for Autism 5k. You can find event photos here: https://fb.me/e/8aSH1u5GJ (click on the discussion tab)

What a day! Our 11th Annual Steps for Autism Walk/Run/Roll 5K was nothing short of incredible. We had 547 registered participants and hundreds more who showed up to be part of this amazing community.

💫 From the energy at the starting line to the smiles along the course, this day was a true reflection of what happens when a community comes together with purpose and heart.

To our presenting Spokane City Credit Union (SCCU) and dozens of other sponsors and vendors - thank you for showing up, supporting and helping make this event possible. 🙌

To our 50+ volunteers who were handing out water and snacks, guiding participants and keeping everything running smoothly...you are the backbone of this event. 💧🍎

And to every family member and friend who walked, ran or rolled with us in support of those with autism and other developmental disabilities, you made this day unforgettable. 💙

It truly takes a community, and we felt that in every single step.
Be sure to tag yourself, your friends, and help us celebrate!

One of the most special moments from this year’s Steps for Autism came from the incredible Norwest family (Shawn Norwest Cheldyn Cecelia), who traveled all the way from the Colville area to join us for their very first event. 💙

Sophia and her mom went above and beyond, hosting a bake sale and donating the proceeds to support our mission. Their generosity, heart and dedication are such a powerful reminder of what this community is all about.

Because of families like theirs, we’re able to continue investing in meaningful programs, resources, and support for individuals with autism and their families. This is how lives are changed, through compassion, action and people who truly care.

Thank you, Norwest family, for making a lasting impact. We’re so grateful you’re now part of our Steps for Autism community!

We were honored to have City of Spokane Mayor's Office join us at our 11th Annual Steps for Autism event this weekend to read the official Autism Acceptance & Awareness Month Proclamation. 💙

Moments like this help amplify the voices of individuals and families in our community and remind us all of the importance of acceptance, inclusion and support.
