A friend (Erika Deasy) found out that there were actually 3 Pleasant Prairie Schools and not 2 as I always believed. In 1891, on Thanksgiving Eve, the 1st school burned and the 2nd schoolhouse (wood) was built. Then in 1916, the 3rd schoolhouse (our brick home) was built.
I spend so much time researching Pend Oreille County (and the surrounding area), that I have never really dug into Pleasant Prairie. Erika had found a photo at the downtown Spokane Library that was labeled Pleasant Prairie School. It shows a tall wood structure that we believed to have been mislabeled because our neighbor (Mark Hauschild) has a photo of the wood school that our brick school replaced and this building in the library's photo was totally different than the one in Marks photo. Marks relatives are shown in his photo.
So there you go...the photo Erika found is most-likely the 1st Pleasant Prairie School that burned in 1891. Heres a JAnuary 19, 1892 Spokesman Review article.
