What a wonderful evening celebrating Spotswood students and literacy! These students decided to do some extra reading over the summer and created some amazing projects about the stories they read. Congratulations to all of the students who were recognized for their hard work over the summer! And don’t forget to come by the Library to check out their awesome projects! We’ll be showcasing their work for the next month.

Debra Thime (assisted by Douglas Mount) both from the NJ Civil War History Association demonstrated what it took to dress a Victorian lady. A volunteer from the audience was ‘dressed to the nines’ meaning nine layer of clothing commonly worn by women of that time. The presentation was accompanied by a Victorian Cream Tea and treats and was both educational and entertaining. We are so thankful to both presenters for a wonderful afternoon. Spotswood library will be offering a different tea program on Nov. 3rd at 2 pm, where we’ll learn about Japanese Tea Ceremony and taste some Japanese treats. Registration will begin on 10/1, space will be limited. Visit our website spotslibrary.org or call 732-251-1515 to register.

A group from the Spotswood community were treated to a peaceful session of guided meditation and the soothing sounds of Himalayan singing bowls (pictured) led by Nadine Roberts, Certified & Licensed Vibrational Sound Practitioner and Integrative Mind-Body Stress Management consultant through RWJBH. The session was so popular that we’ll bring her back in the new year. Look out for that announcement and register before the limited seats fill up.
