Tax bills have been mailed and invoices uploaded to Invoice Cloud by the Treasurer’s Office. To view or pay invoices follow this link www.spotsylvania.va.us/billpay. Payments must be postmarked by June 5th.

Both the Commissioner’s Office (assessment and updating records) and Treasurer’s Office (payments), expect the phone lines will be extremely heavy over the next few business days. We appreciate your patience.

The following type of tax bills due are:
- Business Tangible Property
- Personal Property
- Real Estate (If a mortgage company is responsible for paying the real estate bill, you will not receive a copy of the bill. If a bill has been received and you have an escrow, please contact your mortgage company.)

Remember, if you trade-in or sell a vehicle, please notify our office within 30 days. Dealerships and the DMV do not report that information to our office on your behalf.

Did you know there is a Real Estate Tax Relief Program for the Elderly and/or 100% Totally Disabled citizens?

If you can answer “YES” to each of the following, then you may qualify for an exemption up to $1,900.

- Age 65 years or older or totally disabled before January 1st
- Income of $68,000 or less
- Net worth less than $250,000 (excluding home & up to 10 acres)
- Reside in Spotsylvania County at the exempted home

Are you a Veteran that has been recently considered to be 100% disabled due to a service-connected disability? You may qualify for an exemption on Personal Property (1 vehicle – auto, truck or panel truck ) and/or portion of Real Estate taxes (home and 1 acre of land). All other improvements (pool, patio, driveway, additional acreage, etc) may still be subject to taxation.

If you answered “yes,” then you may be eligible for this exemption. We will need a copy of the E-Benefit Summary letter plus other documentation depending on ownership of property.
