Just another sunny day at the Spreckels Memorial Park hanging out with some of my favorite peeps! After MANY decades of service the windbreak at the main picnic area pavilion had to be removed. Facility Manager Joe, our favorite part time employee Tim, SVMD Board Director Rick Mojica, and residents Sergio Gomez and Rick Jorgensen (not in the pics) all pitched in to dismantle the dilapidated structure. I wish to thank them all for their hard work and making these projects possible! We have the best community!!

Seeing what we have to work with now we are looking into getting laser cut aluminum panels for the upper sections of the new windbreak. Does anyone have any recommendations or connections to any businesses or trades with a CNC machine or ability to create panels with military branch insignias? Approximate dimensions will be 8’x4’ panels. Please message me if you have any suggestions 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
This year the Spreckels Veterans Memorial District has so much to be grateful for! With the support of our wonderful employees Paul, Joe, and Tim, and the support from our fabulous community, much has been accomplished this year! I am so proud to be part of this wonderful place and am so grateful to all my fellow Board Members, fabulous neighbors, and Spreckels partners that enable us to continue to support our beloved VFW Post 6849 & Auxiliary, all veterans, and Spreckels community. Facility Manager Joe is excited to have brought back “Movie Nights In The Park” and will be scheduling a holiday movie night at the Hall shortly :) Improvements are happening at the Memorial Building to include some work in the newly rebranded Spreckels Room and Lt. Billy Paulson Hall! Soon we hope to be filling the empty display cases with assistance from the Monterey County Historical Society and welcome any Spreckels memorabilia or family military memorabilia to be included!

ATTENTION PEPSI FANS 😃

We are cleaning house at the Hall and are offering the Pepsi machine for free to anyone that will come get it! It has not been functional for many years and it is not prudent for the District to pay to have it restored. Asthetically it is in great condition!! Please DM me or contact Joe to make pick up arrangements 🙂

A huge thank you to Spreckels Friday Night heroes!!! Facility Manager Joe orchestrated a pop up movie night in the park to test out equipment and the VFW Post made hamburgers🍔. The Post sold out and everyone had a great time! Shout outs to Joe, Tim, Johnny, Ralph, Santos, and Jason🤗

The Spreckels Veterans Memorial District Board is once again able to show off and brag about the extraordinary residents of Spreckels! For those here in Spreckels he needs no introduction…. But for those who do not know him please meet lifelong Spreckels resident James Riley. James has always been passionate about Spreckels and its history, and of our wonderful park! To continue in the spirit of historical preservation James seized an opportunity to have a young Canary Palm tree growing too close to a resident’s house relocated over to the Spreckels Memorial Park where it could join three heritage Canary Palms. James generously paid for the tree’s relocation! Please join us is saying Thank You James!!!!!
