This weekend we honor the brave men and women who have lost their lives protecting our freedoms. If you would like more information on how easy it is to become a member of SBFPD, call us at (309) 822-0152 or stop by our station in Spring Bay any Thursday evening. We love our volunteers!

Today, Firefighters Eli Murray, Trevor Pruitt, and Kaylee Orton graduated from Basic Operations Firefighter class hosted by the Illinois Fire Service Institute. This class was blended between online classroom and in person hands on training. These 3 individuals put in over 350 hours of class time for this class, on top of still coming to department events, going to work, and balancing family time as well. While they have graduated from class, their journey isn’t quite finished for complete certification. They have a 40 hour Hazardous Materials Operations class they will be going through in the next couple of weeks. Once this is completed they will have a Basic Operations Firefighter and Advanced Technician Firefighter certifications through the Illinois State Fire Marshal office. Congratulations and thank you for dedicating so much time to this class over the past 18 weeks. The officers and members of the Spring Bay Fire Protection District are very proud of what you have accomplished! We love our volunteers!

It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week! You know them as the voice of 911. Every day these folks answer your calls and make sure that you get the emergency services you need. We at SBFD have the pleasure of working with both Woodford County and Tazwell County dispatch. We are taking time this week to show our appreciation for those who (quite literally) answer the call! Thank you, dispatchers, for all that you do!
