Pennhurst State School and Hospital was designed to house the mentally and physically disabled until reports of abuse started to rise up out of the darkness from inside. That darkness was found to contain some of the most horrific, abusive practices that has blighted this society in recent times. 10,400 Pennsylvanians lived and mostly died under horrendous conditions
