🚒 Why Did “Truck 4” Become “Tower 4”? 🚒
If you follow emergency incidents through pages such as SPIN, York County WebCAD, or scanner traffic, you may have noticed a change in how some fire apparatus are being identified.
Earlier this year, York County 911 began implementing updated apparatus call signs to better reflect the type of aerial device carried by each unit. Apparatus previously identified simply as a “Truck” are now designated as either a Ladder or Tower, depending on the aerial equipment they are equipped with.
As a result, Truck 4 is now officially known as Tower 4.
Tower 4 is equipped with:
• A 100-foot aerial tower
• A 1,500 gallon-per-minute fire pump
• A 300-gallon water tank
• A wide assortment of firefighting, rescue, ventilation, forcible entry, and emergency operations equipment
Tower 4 responds regularly to emergencies throughout Spring Grove Borough, North Codorus Township, Heidelberg Township, Paradise Township, Jefferson Borough, and Codorus Township, providing critical aerial, rescue, and firefighting capabilities to our community and neighboring municipalities.
While the name may have changed, our commitment to serving the community remains the same. The next time you hear “Tower 4” on the scanner, you’ll know it’s the same dedicated apparatus and crew responding to protect lives and property throughout the region.
