The Porters Community Fire Company is an all volunteer company located in York County, Pennsylvania, in the village of Porters Sideling, and provides coverage to over15 square miles of Heidelberg Township. Heidelberg Township has approximately 3300 residents, and includes parts of Codorus State Park. We provide mutual aid to North Codorus Township, Jackson Township, Codorus Township, Paradise Township, Jefferson Borough, and other local municipalities.

This afternoon at 1229 hours, Station 53 and Rescue 79 ( Hanover Area Fire & Rescue ) along with EMS units from 97-4 ( WellSpan Health ) and 79 were alerted for an accident with entrapment on Amy Way in Box 53-05 of Heidelberg Township. Medic 79 arrived first confirming one person trapped from a construction accident. The York County Advanced Technical Rescue Team was immediately alerted on the assignment. After access and assessment, it was determined that the incident would unfortunately be a recovery operation and ATR units were canceled.
Engine 53-1, Utility 53 and Rescue 79 crews, assisted by two rotator units from Mike's Towing successfully completed recovery operations at 1517.
Northern York County Regional Police and the York County Coroner's Office are investigating.
Friendship Hose Company #1 stood by in their station to handle any additional calls in Station 53's area while our units were committed to this incident.

On Saturday at 1759 hours, Boat 53 was alerted on Box 47-04 in Manheim Township assisting Station 47 with a water rescue on Lake Marburg duringand immediatelyafter strong storms came through the area. The original reported incident was handled quickly with a successful rescue of two stranded kayakers.
While on the original reported incident, an additional possible rescue was reported. Boat 53 quickly confirmed that the secondary incident had already resulted in all parties self rescuing out of the water. A third storm related incident resulted in a lengthy search on Saturday evening near the Sailboat launch in the 53-11 Box of Heidelberg Township. After an unsuccessful search, the incident was turned over to DCNR Park Rangers. The search resumed on Sunday with Boat 53 and Boat 52 from Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Company assisting DCNR with unsuccessful results. Searches resumed on Monday morning with Boat 53 and several other agencies involved assisting DCNR, unfortunately resulting in a successful recovery. DCNR and the York County Coroner's Office are investigating.

UPDATE: The search in Lake Marburg at Codorus State Park is complete. The lake will reopen for normal operations on Tuesday, June 9 at 8:00 AM. The incident remains under investigation.

ATTENTION: Lake Marburg will be closed today, June 8, as search efforts continue for a missing boater who was last seen at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6. The incident involves an individual on an unpowered watercraft who is believed to have entered the water during a period of inclement weather. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission are investigating the incident.
