After completing his training yesterday, Firefighter Zach Vandeventer was officially sworn in.

Zach will begin Friday, assigned to Engine 62C. We’re proud of the work he has put in to get to this point and look forward to seeing him continue to develop and serve the Spring Hill community.

Do you and your family have a fire escape plan? Taking a few minutes to plan and practice your escape routes can make all the difference in an emergency.

Use our Fire Escape Plan Activity to map out two ways out of every room, choose a safe meeting place outside, and review important safety reminders together. Make it a family activity—draw your plan, answer the questions, and talk through what to do if the smoke alarm sounds.

Last Tuesday afternoon, we responded to a catastrophic traffic accident on Interstate 65.

By now, many of you have likely seen pictures or video from the scene, and we will not be posting additional images. Instead, we ask that our community pause and keep everyone impacted by this tragic incident in your thoughts and prayers.

Please remember the family of the driver involved, the other motorists involved in the crash, and the first responders who worked this difficult scene.

We would also like to sincerely thank all of the agencies and emergency personnel who assisted at the scene and helped provide coverage for our community while our crews were committed to the incident. Your support and partnership are greatly appreciated.

THP will be opening the northbound lanes.

(2:41pm) Interstate 65 is closed in both directions between the Saturn Parkway and Bear Creek exits while responders work a traffic accident. The interstate will be closed for an extended period, so please plan accordingly for your commute home.
