Our Culinary Team has been working hard preparing meals for our Battalion drills. We’re fortunate to have a group that takes the time to provide home-cooked food for our members during training. The SBM Fire Department appreciates the effort that goes into keeping everyone fueled and ready to go.

The SBM Fire Corps Team had the unique opportunity to tour the Minnesota State Capitol! Not only did we get to learn about the rich history of our beautiful capitol, but we also received special permission to park Engine 5 on the Promenade and step onto the House Floor.

A huge thank you to FC Member Mary for making this unforgettable experience possible and for helping us all feel so special! 🙌

Fun fact: Did you know that the current capitol was built in 1905 and fully restored in 2016? It’s actually Minnesota’s third capitol building—the first one tragically burned down in a fire.

Tuesday night, our Rehab Team trained on Radio Communication! In one room, a member was placed with a picture in front of them. They had to communication via radio to their partner in a separate room to try to get them to draw the same picture! In this drill, we learned how important clear transmissions and details are. Good work team!

Tonight our Fire Corps specialty Rehab Team spent over two hours discussing radio work, truck placement, scene safety, cycling crews, and the ever important making coffee while our crews are working on scene!

A shout out to our amazing Fire Corps Rehab team! Spring Lake Park, Blaine, Mounds View Fire Dept. has been busy with fires and our Fire Corps rehab team is there right alongside us. Thank you all for your help and dedication on scene. Battling the cold makes it even more of a challenge, thinking of warmer days to come.
