We are incredibly thrilled and proud to share some major news for our district: Spring Lake High School has officially earned the 2026 MI HEARTSafe School Award!

This prestigious designation recognizes our school's top-tier dedication to creating a prepared, safe, and life-ready environment for our students, staff, and community visitors. To earn this award, a school must meet strict safety protocols, including having a comprehensive cardiac emergency response plan, accessible Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), and a dedicated team trained in CPR and AED use.

A massive thank you goes out to our incredible school nurses, athletic trainers, staff members, and local emergency responders who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our hallways and athletic spaces safe.

Need one more cool father/son story on the diamond with Father's Day coming up?

There was a full circle moment during the final game played on old Hickman Field! Elias Vink was coached by his dad, Michael, on the exact same field where Michael played his own final high school game years ago.

Hickman Field is moving to the high school campus and will continue to create Laker memories for generations to come.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, we are diving deep into a rare and incredible story:

Meet Eric and Maddux Kipling. Kip is a longtime district teacher, varsity coach, and former D1 pitcher for Central Michigan. Maddux is a newly minted Laker grad who just signed a rare, big-time commitment to pitch in the Big Ten for the Michigan State Spartans!

From the “hat rule” after big games to building dugout gear by hand, their journey is the ultimate definition of mentorship, trust, and turning a shared love for the game into a Division I reality.
