Lakers in Action: "Mr. Mike" McPherson!

They say "Once a Laker, Always a Laker"—and Mr. Mike proves it!

After officially retiring as a bus driver at the end of last school year, Mr. Mike couldn't help but show up on the first morning back. He was right there at the bus stop on Day 1 alongside his dog, Shadow, to cheer on our students as they headed off to school.

We love and appreciate all of our incredible bus drivers who safely transport our kids every day!

Thank you, Mr. Mike (and Shadow!), for showing what Laker heart is all about!

There’s a reason we call them "Specials"—they make school magical!

From PE & Music to Spanish, STEM & Art (and, yes, Library even though it's not an "official" special), our educators are busy learning hundreds of names, setting routines & inspiring our elementary Lakers to create, move, explore, and think.

It's that time—the Battle of the Boardwalk is here!

Four local teams, including your Spring Lake Lakers, are bringing their talent outdoors to the courts at Lynne Sherwood Stadium for what is going to be a gorgeous day of volleyball. Come out, catch some sun, and make some noise for your Lakers!

A 5-year Strategic Plan sets a clear roadmap for who we want to be as a district—but a plan only works if you keep it active! Now that we’re halfway through our 5-year timeline, we’re taking time every Thursday to share our progress toward these district goals.

📍Focus Area 1: Curriculum
🎯Goal: Collectively determine essential (power) learning standards with complementary scope, sequence, and pacing in all content areas.
📊Status: Progressing 🟡

What's happening? Through district-wide Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), early-release hours, and annual PD, our educators are actively aligning what and when our students learn. While teams are at different stages across subject areas, these vital conversations are happening to ensure consistent, high-quality learning across the district.

As school is coming to a start, so are fall sports! The field hockey team has been working hard in the offseason to prepare for the upcoming games. With team bonding, summer practices, and getting to know the new players, our team is ready to take on the season!

When Spring Lake and Grand Haven take the field this Thursday night, the competition will be fierce—but the cause on the sidelines unites us all.

Meet Krista Brennfoerder, a proud Laker mom of three who faced a daunting breast cancer diagnosis at age 40. Through 16 rounds of chemo, radiation, and surgeries, Krista experienced the healing power of local support and the life-changing impact of Bluebird Cancer Retreats.

This Thursday's game serves as a community effort to raise funds for Bluebird, ensuring cancer survivors and their families receive cost-free retreats, support groups, and care bags when they need them most.
