It was the late 1960‘s in a garage in San Diego, CA. A man named Ellis De Long designed and engineered a wooden sawhorse to be lightweight, strong, and versatile. The genuine Burro Brand sawhorse was born! In 1978 the company was purchased by Jim Frey. By this time, the sawhorse was being sold in approximately 22 lumber yards in the San Diego area. All Burros were completely manufactured and dist
ributed by Jim Frey, with occasional help from family and friends. In 1989 Burro Brand added 8 Home Depot’s and from there we didn’t stop. We went from a 1000sf shop making 500 sawhorses a month to 2 manufacturing plants making 1000 sawhorses a day, servicing the USA and abroad. With Jim and his son Jame’ still at the controls, the attention to detail has never gone away from the heart of Burro Brand. Always keeping quality as our top priority and never losing sight of the small family business we still are.
