Join us on Thursday for our final teach-in on Palestine! Learn how various forms of state violence are used against freedom fighters, and about strategies to strengthen international solidarity.

About our Participants:

Jihad Abdulmumit

Jihad is a Black Panther Party and Black Liberation Army veteran. He served 23 years in prison for his involvement in revolutionary struggle. Jihad is Chairperson for the National Jericho Movement and Coordinating Committee Member for the Spirit of Mandela Coalition. Jihad played an integral role in developing the International Tribunal on US Human Rights Abuses against Black, Brown, and Indigenous Peoples.

Tunde Osazua

Tunde is the Chair of Political Education for the Atlanta chapter of Community Movement Builders and the Outreach Coordinator for the Black Alliance for Peace. He is also the Direct Action Committee Lead for the International Campaign to Free Kamau Sadiki, and a member of the Demilitarize! Atlanta to Palestine Coalition.

Nina Farnia

Nina is a legal historian and scholar of Critical Race Theory, focusing on the role of modern imperialism in U.S. law and politics. Her doctoral dissertation, “Imperialism in the Making of U.S. Law, 1940-2008,” is the 2023 co-winner of the Julien Mezey Dissertation Award from the Association for the Study of Law, Culture, and the Humanities, and is the basis of her forthcoming book, “The Imperialist State.” Nina is Co-chair of the International People’s Tribunal on U.S. Imperialism: Sanctions, Blockades, and Economic Coercive Measures.

Charlotte Kates

Charlotte is the International Coordinator of Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, an international network of activists that work to support rights and freedom for Palestinian political prisoners. She is the Coordinator of the US National Lawyers Guild’s International Committee, and an organizer with the Palestine Right to Return Coalition.

Michelle Smith

Michelle is the Co-Director of Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty and the Founder and Director of Missouri Justice Coalition.

Join us for our second teach-in on January 18! We will be discussing Gaza’s history and how it became the world’s largest concentration camp, the link between the death penalty and genocide, and the global response to Israel’s genocide against the Palestinians.

About our Participants:

Dr. Maha Nassar

Dr. Maha Nassar is a cultural and intellectual historian of the twentieth-century Arab world, with a focus on Palestinian history. In 2018, her monograph “Brothers Apart: Palestinian Citizens of Israel and the Arab World” received a Palestine Book Award for academic titles. Her next book project is centered on telling the story of how Palestinian identity has been constructed and maintained under the conditions of statelessness and transnational dispersal.

Dr. Gerald Horne
Dr. Gerald Horne holds the Moores Professorship of History and African American Studies. His research has addressed issues of racism and how it intersects with settler colonialism, politics, civil rights, international relations, and war. Dr. Horne is the author of more than thirty books, which includes “The Apocalypse of Settler Colonialism: The Roots of Slavery, White Supremacy and Capitalism in Seventeenth Century North America and the Caribbean.”

Huwaida Arraf, Esq.

Huwaida Arraf is a Palestinian American human rights attorney and activist. She is Co-Founder of the Nobel Peace Prize nominated International Solidarity Movement, a Palestinian civil society-led movement which utilizes nonviolent direct action to confront and challenge Israeli military occupation and colonial violence. She was one of the primary organizers of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla and was traveling with it when it was lethally attacked by Israeli forces on 31 May 2010.

Michelle Smith

Michelle Smith is a criminal punishment system-impacted abolitionist and organizer. Michelle is the Co-Director of Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty and the Founder and Director of Missouri Justice Coalition. Her organizing efforts extend to all facets of mass incarceration, including wrongful convictions, higher education for systems impacted people, humane and adequate healthcare, and decarceration.

Tania Siddiqi

Tania Siddiqi is the Coordinator for the Texas People’s Tribunal and the Palestine International teach-in Coordinator. Her forthcoming research article “Genocide, Punishment, and History: The ‘State’ of Texas and Judgement in Imperialist USA” explores the function of state-sanctioned violence against racialized peoples within the context of US imperialism and the Anglo-American colonization of Mexican Texas.

About our Participants:

Dr. Linda Quiquivix

Dr. Linda Quiquivix is a critical geographer focusing on environmental justice, knowledge production, and Black and indigenous land struggles in the Americas and Middle East. She is an expert on Israel and Palestine’s borders, and her forthcoming book “Palestine 1492” contextualizes Palestine within the genocidal world of 1492. Her writings have been translated into Arabic, Spanish, French, and Italian.

Dr. M. Muhannad Ayyash

Dr. M. Muhannad Ayyash was born and raised in Silwan, Al-Quds, before immigrating to Canada, where he is now Professor of Sociology at Mount Royal University. He is the author of A Hermeneutics of Violence, and a policy analyst at Al-Shabaka, the Palestinian Policy Network. He is currently writing a book on settler colonial sovereignty in Palestine/Israel.

Mirinda Rose Crissman

Mirinda is a co-chair of the Prisoners Solidarity Committee and a co-editor of "Tear Down the Walls," the Workers World Newspaper’s section about prison abolition. They are the Communications Director for the Texas People’s Tribunal and a member of the Texas Death Penalty Abolition Movement.

Matt Meyer

Matt Meyer is Secretary General of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA). He also serves as Co-committee member for the Spirit of Mandela Coalition, and played an integral role in organizing the historic October 2021 International Tribunal on US Human Rights Abuses Against Black, Brown, and Indigenous Peoples.
