HBB Hope Beyond Bridges (HBB) is on a mission to Restore HOPE to the homeless by meeting spiritual, emotional, and physical needs because a bridge is NOT a home.

Hope Beyond Bridges is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing meals, clothing, hygiene, spiritual and other assistance to the homeless in greater Houston. HBB has been serving our homeless friends every Saturday for the last 14 years. We have established ourselves as trustworthy, faithful, and non-judgmental advocates for the homeless community. HBB has many established relation

ships with other agencies and ministries that value our insights and expertise. As Co-Founder, and Executive Director, I started Hope Beyond Bridges in 2008 because God placed a calling on my heart to reach out and serve the forgotten, marginalized, and often ignored homeless individuals in the greater Houston area. By God’s grace, HBB has served over 100,620 hot meals, delivered 117,020 hygiene kits, and served the homeless along I-45, for more than 725 consecutive Saturdays without interruption. The homelessness epidemic is fueled by, but not limited to; traumatized individuals who, absent spiritual, family, or community support, turn to drugs, and alcohol to numb the pain of their past. Despite what most believe, the majority of homeless are not lazy, dangerous, or mentally ill. They have suffered complex repetitive trauma and/or complex developmental trauma from an early age, and this experience wires their brains contrary to God’s design. Hope Beyond Bridges knows through experience, our weekly outreach & feedings allow us to build relationships, establish trust, hear their stories, and learn their names. There is incredible power in a name. Our ministry is a relational ministry like Christ was relational – valuing each life as uniquely made in the image of God. Our desire is to restore HOPE, see recovery & restoration from substance abuse, and assist them to exit homelessness permanently. HBB believes and has seen over our 14 years of weekly engagement focused on meeting felt needs, allowing us to earn their trust and build friendships. We want the homeless to see, hear, smell, taste, and experience the love of Jesus Christ through our interactions. Through our relief efforts, we earn the ability to speak the gospel into their lives as the Holy Spirit guides us. By God’s grace, we have seen some accept the grace of Jesus and begin the transformation through recovery & discipleship. We believe every interaction is ordained by God and every prayer we lift on behalf of those we serve has an eternal impact. Our ministry model to accomplish our mission involves partnering with local churches such as our 9 + years with Trinity Lutheran. Our faithful partners purchase food and supplies, provide the commercial kitchen required for food preparation, and the volunteers to go out and serve the food. Our focus area has always been the suburbs between 610 loop and SH99. Our weekly engagement focuses on relief efforts as we provide a hot nutritious meal, something cold to drink, a hygiene kit, and other felt needs. More importantly, than the felt needs, we offer encouragement and prayer. The results of the 2021 annual point-in-time count published by the Coalition for the Homeless Houston recorded 3,047 homeless residents in Harris County, of which 1,510 were living on the streets rather than in shelters.

He is Risen! Happy Easter from Hope Beyond Bridges!

This Easter morning, our hearts are full of gratitude — for an empty tomb, for a living Savior, and for you.

Seventeen years of Saturdays — and every single one is a reminder that the same God who rolled away the stone continues to move in the lives of those we serve on the streets of Greater Houston.

To the homeless men and women we serve: you are seen, you are loved, and there is a hope that no bridge, no storm, and no circumstance can take away. Jesus is alive — and that changes everything.

From all of us at Hope Beyond Bridges — may your Easter be filled with joy, rest, and the deep peace of knowing He is risen indeed.

"He is not here; He has risen!" — Luke 24:6

Hi everyone,
As we prepare for outreach this Saturday, we are still in need of additional volunteers to help cook and serve. The need on the streets continues to grow, and we cannot do this without faithful people like you stepping in.

Every Saturday matters. Every meal matters. Every conversation matters.

When you sign up, you’re not just serving food — you’re restoring HOPE, offering encouragement, and reminding someone that they are seen and loved. I am deeply grateful for the way this community consistently rises to meet the need, and I’m asking if you would prayerfully consider serving with us this weekend.

If you’re available, please register as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly:

Thank you for your generosity, your compassion, and your willingness to be the hands and feet of hope. It truly makes an eternal difference.

Grace & peace,
David Droll

💖 Your End‑of‑Year Gift Can Restore Dignity & Rebuild Lives

At Hope Beyond Bridges, we believe every person—no matter their circumstances—is created with God‑given worth and dignity. Homelessness does not define a person’s value. Behind every face is a story, a soul, and a spark of hope waiting to be reignited.

Our mission goes far beyond meals. It’s about transformation. Every Saturday, we meet our unhoused neighbors with food, hygiene care, prayer, and consistent relationship—because healing begins when someone feels seen, heard, and loved.

Many of our neighbors carry deep trauma, systemic barriers, and years of isolation. Yet every week, we witness hope rising: someone taking a step toward recovery, reconnecting with family, seeking mental health support, or simply believing again that their life matters.

💛 We believe Jesus heals—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And through His example, we show up with humility, grace, and unwavering hope.

📖 “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40 (NIV)

Why Your End‑of‑Year Gift Matters

As we approach December 31, your generosity has a double impact:

• It fuels the meals, hygiene kits, prayer, and outreach happening every weekend.

• It strengthens our ability to walk with individuals toward independence, stability, and renewed dignity.

• And because Hope Beyond Bridges is a 501(c)(3), your gift is tax‑deductible when given before midnight on December 31.

✨ A year‑end gift becomes hope delivered all year long.

Will you make your tax‑deductible End‑of‑Year gift today?

Your support ensures our neighbors are not forgotten—and that they step into the new year with hope, dignity, and the love of Christ.

Tomorrow, December 2, 2025, marks Giving Tuesday, a global celebration of generosity. At Hope Beyond Bridges, we are humbled to have served the Greater Houston area for 18 years, walking alongside men and women experiencing homelessness with dignity, compassion, and hope.

This year, we’ve set an ambitious goal: raise $15,000 by December 31 through Giving Tuesday and year-end giving. Every dollar you contribute helps provide:
• Warm meals
• Clothing and hygiene kits
• Compassionate outreach
• And most importantly, the message of hope found in Christ to those living under Houston’s bridges.

We know Giving Tuesday can feel overwhelming with countless requests, but your gift to Hope Beyond Bridges has a direct impact—restoring dignity and building relationships with those who are often forgotten.

There are many ways to give strategically and effectively:
• Financial donations
• Volunteering your time
• Gifts of appreciated stock
• Donor-advised funds

As you prayerfully consider your Giving Tuesday and year-end contributions, we invite you to stand with us in reaching our $15,000 goal. Together, we can continue to build bridges of hope that transform lives and strengthen our community. https://HopeBeyondBridges.org/Donate

Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and commitment to serving “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40). Your support means the world to us—and to those we serve!

Happy Thanksgiving from Hope Beyond Bridges!

This season of gratitude reminds us of the countless blessings we share—and you are among the greatest. Your prayers, your willingness to serve, and your generous support make HOPE possible for the men and women we meet each week.

Because of you, lives are touched, dignity is restored, and those experiencing homelessness are reminded that they are seen, valued, and loved.

May your Thanksgiving overflow with peace, joy, and the warmth of those who matter most.

With heartfelt thanks,
Hope Beyond Bridges

📚 The Role of Education: A Pathway to Hope

Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness. At Hope Beyond Bridges, we believe that access to learning, training, and personal development opens doors to opportunity, restores dignity, and empowers individuals to build a brighter future.

Many of our unhoused neighbors never had the chance to finish school, learn a trade, or develop essential life skills. While we focus on relational outreach, meals, and spiritual care, we proudly partner with local ministries that specialize in educational and vocational empowerment:

• Wesley Community Center offers GED prep, vocational training, ESL, and financial stability programs to help individuals gain confidence and career readiness.
📞 713-223-8131 | wesleyhousehouston.org
• Open Door Mission provides residential recovery, life skills training, and job readiness support for men overcoming addiction and homelessness.
📞 713-921-7520 | opendoorhouston.org
• Open Gate Homeless Ministries focuses on life skills and empowerment services for individuals and families seeking independence and personal growth.
📞 713-526-1017 | findhelp.org listing

By connecting our neighbors to these trusted partners, we help them take the next step toward healing and independence. Education doesn’t just change minds—it changes lives.

💛 We believe that Jesus heals—and through His love, we offer not just relief, but renewal.

📖 “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.” — Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)

Let’s be a community that invests in education, uplifts potential, and walks alongside those rebuilding their lives.

💪 Celebrating Resilience: Strength in the Face of Adversity

Every week, at Hope Beyond Bridges, we meet individuals whose stories redefine what it means to be strong. Many have endured unimaginable hardship—childhood trauma, job loss, addiction, mental illness, domestic violence, and the daily struggle of surviving without shelter. Yet despite it all, they continue to show up, strive forward, and believe in the possibility of a better tomorrow.

This is resilience. And it’s not just inspiring—it’s sacred.

We honor these journeys not with pity, but with respect. Behind every face we encounter lies a story of courage, endurance, and hope. These are people who have been knocked down time and again, yet still rise—seeking healing, restoration, and a sense of purpose.

At Hope Beyond Bridges, we walk alongside them with compassion and faith. We offer meals, mentorship, mental health support, and most importantly—relationships. We believe that Jesus heals, and through His love, we help individuals reclaim their dignity and rebuild their lives.

📖 “We are hard pressed on every side but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair.” — 2 Corinthians 4:8

💛 Let’s be a community that celebrates resilience and walks with those who are rebuilding from the ground up.

📉 Understanding Systemic Barriers: Why Compassion Alone Isn’t Enough

Homelessness isn’t just about lacking shelter—it’s about navigating a maze of systemic barriers that make recovery feel impossible for many. Discrimination, lack of access to healthcare, limited mental health services, and insufficient social support systems all play a role in keeping people stuck in cycles of poverty and instability.

Many individuals’ experiencing homelessness face these challenges daily. They’re denied housing because of past evictions or criminal records. They’re turned away from jobs due to gaps in employment or lack of documentation. They struggle to access basic healthcare, especially mental health and addiction treatment, because services are underfunded or overwhelmed.

These aren’t personal failures—they’re systemic failures. And tackling them requires more than charity. It demands a collective effort from every sector of society: government, healthcare, faith communities, nonprofits, and everyday citizens.

At Hope Beyond Bridges, we walk alongside our unhoused neighbors with compassion—but also with advocacy. We connect individuals to resources, build relationships rooted in dignity, and speak out against the systems that perpetuate homelessness. We believe that Jesus heals, and through His example, we work to restore not just individuals—but the broken systems around them.

📖 “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.” — Isaiah 1:17

💛 Together, we can build a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
