One year ago today, when Sarah Huckabee Sanders ended her response to the State of the Union Address, we hit send on our first email, announcing Vortex.

Extremist Republicans like the Governor and Arkansas’s four Congressmen need to know that the clock is ticking on their assault on our freedoms and well-being.

In the past year, we’ve met with Arkansans in every corner of the state, sharing a vision of how we can work together. You nominated amazing people to represent you on the ballot. We’ve endorsed 4 of extraordinary candidates. And, now, we’re working to get them elected.

Today, we’re celebrating our first year. But we’re just getting started!

We are soaring into the end of 2023 with incredible momentum!

We started from scratch in February this year. One month later we launched our statewide recruitment campaign to find four bold Democrats to run. And with your support, we now have a FULL SLATE on the ballot next year.

We have a lot of work ahead of us in 2024, and our team is hunkered down planning for these critical next few months.

Positive energy was plentiful at Rodney Govens’ event last week in Des Arc! Neighbors, including , came together at Dondie’s White River Princess and filled the room with enthusiasm and a shared passion for change.

Rodney Govens for Congress, the Vortex-verified candidate for Arkansas’s 1st Congressional District, shared his personal story, while addressing the real challenges faced by communities like Des Arc daily. He shed light on the issues that Rep. Crawford continues to overlook, emphasizing the need for proactive change and responsive leadership.

Disturbing developments in abortion rights demand our attention. In Texas, a woman faced legal battles to access a medically necessary abortion, while in Ohio, a woman was denied care and now faces criminal charges after a miscarriage. In Kentucky, a woman is suing against a near-total abortion ban.

Freedom across America, especially in Arkansas, is at risk, with House Republicans eyeing a national abortion ban. Support Democratic candidates to secure every seat. 

And, now, the U.S. Supreme Court may ban mifepristone, jeopardizing safe abortions nationwide. This threatens the 1 in 5 women who already travel for reproductive healthcare.

Republicans’ promises of exceptions are false, as recent cases reveal. We must vote in 2024 as lives are at stake under their control.
