πŸ£πŸš“ From the Desk of Chief Rodarte πŸš“πŸ£

I would like to congratulate all the kids who participated in the Easter Egg Hunt. After observing the search tactics, speed, and investigative techniques, I can confidently say Springer has some future officers and detectives in training.

Those eggs didn’t stand a chance.

Keep up the good work, and we will be accepting your applications in years to come.

I would also like to recognize the Town of Springer employees who helped organize and set up the Easter Egg Hunt for our community. Events like this are great for our kids and families, and we appreciate the work that goes into making them happen.

πŸš“πŸ›οΈ BUILDING CHECK – MILLS MANSION πŸ›οΈπŸš“

The Springer Police Department responded to a report of an open door at the Mills Mansion. Due to the size of the building and for officer safety, a drone equipped with thermal imaging (FLIR) was deployed to check the structure before officers made entry.

Springer Police, along with the Colfax County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a full check of the building and surrounding area. After clearing the structure, it was confirmed that no individuals were inside and the building was secured.

This incident highlights the importance of law enforcement agencies working together and using available technology to safely and efficiently respond to calls for service and help keep our communities safe.

πŸ”’ Property Safety Tips for the Community
β€’ Always ensure doors and windows are locked when leaving
β€’ Install motion lights around your property
β€’ Consider security cameras or alarm systems
β€’ Ask neighbors to watch your property if you are out of town
β€’ Report suspicious activity immediately to dispatch
β€’ Secure vacant buildings and properties regularly

If you see suspicious activity or unsecured buildings, please contact Raton Central Dispatch at 575-445-2704 or 911 in an emergency.

Working together helps keep Springer and Colfax County safe.

πŸ“’ PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT – REPORTING EMERGENCIES πŸ“’
Springer Police Department

We want to remind the community that Facebook is NOT a reliable way to report emergencies or request immediate police response.

While we do monitor our page, messages are not monitored 24/7 and may not be seen in time to respond to urgent situations.

πŸ“ž For assistance:
β€’ Emergency: Call 911
β€’ Non-Emergency / Dispatch: Raton Central Dispatch – 575-445-2704

⚠️ Why this matters:
β€’ Dispatchers can send officers immediately
β€’ Calls are logged and prioritized for faster response
β€’ Critical information is gathered to ensure officer and public safety
β€’ Facebook messages can be delayed, missed, or not seen in time

πŸ’¬ Community Reminder:
If you see suspicious activity, need police assistance, or have an emergency, please call dispatch or 911 directly.

Help us help you, use the proper reporting channels to ensure a quick and effective response.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep Springer safe.

🚨PSA: If New Mexico suddenly had toll roads, we promise we would know about it.

We’ve received a large number of calls and messages about a text circulating with a β€œcourt notice” for unpaid toll violations in Bernalillo County.

Let’s clear a few things up.

β€’ New Mexico does not have toll roads.
β€’ Courts do not send official hearing notices by text message.
β€’ You should never scan a QR code or send money from a suspicious message.

If you receive something like the notice pictured claiming you owe money for an β€œelectronic toll violation” in Albuquerque, it is a scam.

Real court documents are sent through official mail or legal service, not random text messages with QR codes asking for payment.

If you are unsure whether you have a case, citation, or warrant:

β€’ Contact your local law enforcement agency
β€’ Call the court directly using a verified phone number
β€’ Check through official court websites

Do not send money or provide personal information through suspicious links.

We appreciate everyone reaching out to verify. But remember β€” you can’t get a toll violation on a road that doesn’t have tolls.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – SPRINGER COMMUNITY NOTICE 🚨
Springer Police Department

The Springer Police Department would like to inform the community about fraudulent notices circulating via text message that appear to be official court documents regarding toll violations.

These notices claim to be from a court and instruct individuals to scan a QR code to pay a toll violation or civil penalty. The document shown is NOT legitimate and is being used as part of a scam.

⚠️ Important reminders to protect yourself:

β€’ Courts and government agencies do not request payment through random QR codes sent in the mail or online.
β€’ Be cautious of documents that create urgency or pressure you to pay immediately.
β€’ Always verify notices by contacting the court directly using official phone numbers or websites.
β€’ Do not scan QR codes or click links from suspicious notices or messages.
β€’ If something seems unusual or suspicious, take time to verify before providing personal or financial information.

πŸ’‘ What to do if you receive one of these notices:

β€’ Do not scan the QR code or submit payment.
β€’ Report the notice to local law enforcement.
β€’ Notify family members or neighbors so they are aware of the scam.

The Springer Police Department encourages residents to remain cautious and help spread awareness so others in our community do not fall victim to scams.

Please share this post to help keep the Springer community informed and protected
