These personnel spent long hours on scene, working diligently to bring the situation to a safe resolution. Their efforts resulted in the safe apprehension of the suspect, prioritizing the safety of the public, officers, and everyone involved.

This incident highlights the strength of law enforcement partnerships and the importance of coordination between agencies in critical situations.

🚗 Holiday Safety Reminders
• Do not drink and drive – plan ahead for a safe ride
• Always wear your seatbelt
• Watch for children, pedestrians, and people outdoors
• Drive carefully in neighborhoods and around churches
• Keep an eye on kids during Easter egg hunts and events

I would like to congratulate all the kids who participated in the Easter Egg Hunt. After observing the search tactics, speed, and investigative techniques, I can confidently say Springer has some future officers and detectives in training.

Those eggs didn’t stand a chance.

Keep up the good work, and we will be accepting your applications in years to come.

I would also like to recognize the Town of Springer employees who helped organize and set up the Easter Egg Hunt for our community. Events like this are great for our kids and families, and we appreciate the work that goes into making them happen.

🚓🏛️ BUILDING CHECK – MILLS MANSION 🏛️🚓

The Springer Police Department responded to a report of an open door at the Mills Mansion. Due to the size of the building and for officer safety, a drone equipped with thermal imaging (FLIR) was deployed to check the structure before officers made entry.

Springer Police, along with the Colfax County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a full check of the building and surrounding area. After clearing the structure, it was confirmed that no individuals were inside and the building was secured.

This incident highlights the importance of law enforcement agencies working together and using available technology to safely and efficiently respond to calls for service and help keep our communities safe.

🔒 Property Safety Tips for the Community
• Always ensure doors and windows are locked when leaving
• Install motion lights around your property
• Consider security cameras or alarm systems
• Ask neighbors to watch your property if you are out of town
• Report suspicious activity immediately to dispatch
• Secure vacant buildings and properties regularly

• Dispatchers can send officers immediately

🚓 TRAFFIC SAFETY UPDATE – SPRINGER 🚓

Springer Police Department observed increased vehicular traffic throughout the community today, resulting in officers conducting 20 traffic stops during routine patrol.

These stops were made to address common violations such as speeding, traffic control violations, and other safety concerns. Our goal is to ensure that everyone traveling through Springer does so safely and responsibly.

• Come to a complete stop at stop signs
• Avoid distracted driving

🚨PSA: If New Mexico suddenly had toll roads, we promise we would know about it.

We’ve received a large number of calls and messages about a text circulating with a “court notice” for unpaid toll violations in Bernalillo County.

Let’s clear a few things up.

• New Mexico does not have toll roads.
• Courts do not send official hearing notices by text message.
• You should never scan a QR code or send money from a suspicious message.

If you receive something like the notice pictured claiming you owe money for an “electronic toll violation” in Albuquerque, it is a scam.

Real court documents are sent through official mail or legal service, not random text messages with QR codes asking for payment.

If you are unsure whether you have a case, citation, or warrant:

• Contact your local law enforcement agency
• Call the court directly using a verified phone number
• Check through official court websites

Do not send money or provide personal information through suspicious links.

We appreciate everyone reaching out to verify. But remember — you can’t get a toll violation on a road that doesn’t have tolls.

These notices claim to be from a court and instruct individuals to scan a QR code to pay a toll violation or civil penalty. The document shown is NOT legitimate and is being used as part of a scam.

⚠️ Important reminders to protect yourself:

• Courts and government agencies do not request payment through random QR codes sent in the mail or online.
• Be cautious of documents that create urgency or pressure you to pay immediately.
• Always verify notices by contacting the court directly using official phone numbers or websites.
• Do not scan QR codes or click links from suspicious notices or messages.
• If something seems unusual or suspicious, take time to verify before providing personal or financial information.

💡 What to do if you receive one of these notices:

• Do not scan the QR code or submit payment.
• Report the notice to local law enforcement.
• Notify family members or neighbors so they are aware of the scam.
