Today is election day, don't forget to vote!!

07/25/2022

With the primary happening a week from tomorrow, August 2nd, I want to remind everyone about the importance of voting. While campaigning for the last 6-8 months, a lot of people have expressed to me how many problems we have in our nation. Well, this is how we fix those problems; we vote! Study the issues and the candidates, pray for guidance, and vote for the changes that need to be made. Vote for good, honest, and wise men and women who support Constitutional principles and will return our nation to it's foundation. Some say it's too late, but remember the words of Winston Churchill: Never give up. Never, ever give up.

One of the things I love about this area is having different seasons. It's so beautiful how the rain has turned everything green right now. I look forward to the fall with the elk bugling and the leaves turning colors. Few things are more peaceful than a calm winter morning after a heavy snow. Spring? Well, I just try not to get blown away.😄

Just FYI, today is the deadline to call the Apache County Recorder's office to check the party status of your ballot or to request a party ballot if you're registered Independent or NPD, etc. You can call the Chief Deputy Recorder at 928-337-7515 to check your status or pick your party ballot.

Our family has never been in the parade before so this was a completely new experience for us. We've always watched the parade go by, but this gave us a different perspective. It was so much fun to see all the families and friends come out and celebrate. We were so happy to have Brenda's dad, Ben and Stephanie and their kids, and David and Sam with us. Family on the 4th! I probably need to work on my parade wave though, LOL.

Is there any better place to celebrate Independence Day than on the mountain? In my opinion, this is the most patriotic area of the state if not the nation. Awesome parades, fireworks that rival cities much bigger than ours, and family get-togethers. With all of that, let's not forget we are celebrating INDEPENDENCE Day, not the 4th of July. 246 years ago we declared our independence and we've been fighting for it ever since. God Bless America!

Recently President Biden said the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment are not absolute. Consider for a moment the ramifications if that statement were true (it's not). If the Constitution isn't absolute then it's fine if President Biden decides he wants to be our king. Our right to elect our representatives is not a right and can be changed tomorrow. If the 2nd Amendment isn't absolute, then neither are any of the other amendments in the Bill of Rights. Our freedom of religion and freedom of speech can be taken away with an executive order. Our right to not incriminate ourselves can cease to exist. Police can just come into our homes at any time without a warrant and search them, and on and on. No, the Constitution is the law of the land and no one can change it or abolish it without our consent. The Bill of Rights does not give us the rights it enumerates. It simply guarantees rights given to us by God, and only He can take those rights away from us. Sorry President Biden, they ARE absolute.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Eagar Days and supported our great community. It was a perfect day for getting together. I also wanted to announce the winners of the ammo giveaway. Adriann Sansom won the .22LR's and Joseph Levine and B.J. Slade tied for the 9mm's and split the pot. Congratulations to all 3! Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth to chat and take a guess.

I hope everyone gets a chance to come out to Eagar Days tomorrow Saturday the 21st. It's a chance to support our great community and enjoy the warm weather after a cold winter. Also, stop by my booth and say hello. See you there!

Congratulations to the Round Valley Lady Elks softball team. This championship has been a long time coming as these young women have been playing together for quite a while, and they've worked really hard. What a great example they are of our community!! Congratulations again, you earned it!

Last night I read the draft of the Supreme Court opinion which overturns Roe v. Wade. One thing I noticed is that it is impossible to tell if Justice Alito is for or against abortion. What is certain is that he is definitely for the Constitution. He constantly references the Constitution and the standards in determining whether a law is constitutional or not. This is most refreshing. There are many references in the opinion to the original Roe v. Wade decision in 1973 and he quotes many parts of the original decision. It is obvious now as it was obvious to many at the time that the Supreme Court decided in 1973 to simply make a new law in violation of their constitutional authority. If you support the Constitution, then this opinion (if it stands) is a win for returning to the principles this country was founded on. As Justice Alito said, let the elected representatives (who are accountable to the people) make the law. The court can then interpret the law and determine its constitutionality.

Daniel Webster said, "It is hardly too strong to say the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.
