The community health and injury prevention program at the Apache County Health Department offer car seat education and car seats for individuals who qualify for our car seat program. Did you know that almost 75% of children are restrained incorrectly? Our program does at least two car seat check events a year and any members of our community are welcome to bring their children to have their car se
ats checked for correct installation, expirations, and re-calls. This year we will be working with Head Start during National Child Passenger Safety Week. If you are unable to make our events and are in need of a seat or have concerns about installing, please call Kodi Castillo @ 928-333-2415 to make an appointment. Our program works closely with the White Mountain Safe Coalition and Judge Roberta Reed to offer ticket deferral classes in the Round Valley area. We are hoping to expand this year to St. Johns with our ticket deferral program. All children under the age of 8 years old need to be restrained in a safety seat while traveling. For more information please check out the Safe Kids website. http://www.safekids.org/
The Community Health and Injury Prevention Program offers bicycle safety and provides information along with bike helmets for our community. Please call us for more information. Our program also offers preconception and inter-conception health information. Do you find yourself asking "What is preconception health?" Preconception health relates to the health of women and couples before conception, whether it is the first or a subsequent pregnancy. Improving preconception health can contribute to improvement in pregnancy-related outcomes. Furthermore, improving the health of mothers and fathers will result in long-term benefits for individuals and the community. With preconception health, everyone wins. This includes healthy lifestyles from birth all the way up to the time a woman conceives and also after. Our long term goal is to promote healthy living for all members of your families. We offer life plans for both teens and adults. Healthy lifestyles are as simple as including hand washing and education for all family members, healthy eating habits, and personal hygiene. All of the simple things you can start early can promise you a healthy positive outcome for when you are ready to have a family! If you come into our office and fill out one of our life plans and receive information from our program you can receive a gift from us. Please call Kodi Castillo for more details.
