Last night SCRS supported a multi-agency rural fire training event sponsored by Dawson Fire Protection District . Thirty firefighters from area departments attended.
Last night's SCRS K-9 team training was on the lake.
Last night, SCRS members attended an Ameren Gas And Electric First Responders Safety demo hosted by New Berlin Fire & EMS.
SCRS celebrates our 65th anniversary with a reunion this Saturday from 11AM-3PM at Bridgeview Park at Lake Springfield. Looking forward to reuniting with former members, families, associates and supporters.
Today, Wednesday, October 4, a nationwide test of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System will begin at 1:20 p.m. All cell phone devices will have a text and sound sent to them during that time.

Dangerously hot out into Friday. Limit outdoor activities and keep an eye on the elderly, children and pets for signs of heat emergencies.
A Heat Warning remains in effect through Thursday night for most of the region, but has been extended into Friday for locations south of the yellow dashed line on the map. Peak heat index values will range 105-116 each day. Respect the heat!

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, southeast and west central Illinois.
* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 10 PM CDT Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
It's race weekend at the Illinois State Fair. Annually SCRS and partner agencies provide fire & rescue services.
Four SCRS members joined other responders for a 2-day SONAR training at Lake Shelbyville today. They report it was good training that improved skills, mission capabilities & networking.
Today, SCRS supported a multi-agency training burn hosted by Buffalo Illinois Fire Protection District . Members assisted with filling SCBA tanks and provided fireground drone overwatch during the drills.
Tonight SCRS members coordinated via radio network with rural fire and emergency management spotters as severe weather moved through the area. A Tornado Watch & Warning were issued during this event. The watch remains in effect until 10pm.

🔥🌡️ As temperatures soar, it's crucial to stay safe and protect yourself from heat-related emergencies. Here are some essential tips to beat the heat: 🌡️ 🔥
1️⃣ Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to avoid dehydration.
2️⃣ Limit outdoor activities: Try to stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day.
3️⃣ Use cooling methods: Use fans, air conditioning, or cool towels to keep yourself comfortable.
4️⃣ Never leave children or pets in a parked car: Temperatures can rise rapidly, posing a severe risk.
5️⃣ Check on vulnerable individuals: Keep an eye on elderly or disabled neighbors and family members.
6️⃣ Dress appropriately: Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing to stay.
Last night SCRS assisted Riverton Fire & EMS with a water rescue on the Sangamon River. A male subject was located by first responders and was transported by boat to meet with paramedics.
Tonight SCRS demonstrated equipment, including the drone, at Pleasant Plains Fire Protection District.
Four more SCRS members successfully completed the recent EMR training course at Pawnee Fire this past week. Congratulations and thank you for your dedication!
