Thank you for honoring us with your votes. We are deeply moved by your confidence in our work and vision for a better Springfield. This victory was the work of many. We are especially grateful to our family, friends, and loyal supporters who so generously contributed their time and effort to the campaign. We would also like to thank Joan Karpf and Cathy Guarino for their commitment to Springfield.

Being an effective leader involves listening to residents, translating their concerns into workable proposals, and building consensus to implement them. We thank all those who have taken the time to share your ideas, your concerns, and your willingness to discuss what really matters to you. Not only have you entrusted us with the responsibility of Springfield’s future, but you also continue to provide us with the ideas and feedback we need to do it as it should be done.

We look forward to continuing to serve you on the Township Committee. We are extremely honored and humbled by the support of the residents of Springfield in their confidence in us to continue working together for a greater Springfield!

Christopher Capodice, Sr. was born and raised in Union, NJ. A 1996 graduate of Union High School, Chris went on to William Paterson University and received a Bachelor's degree in Communications. Christopher has spent the last 24 years in the field of education. In 2015, he represented the state of New Jersey National Education Association as a Delegate Assembly member. Christopher also served as the President of the Union Township Education Association and was honored with an award for his exceptional service in 2016. He has also been a Delegate Assembly member for both the NJEA and NEA.

In 2012, Chris obtained a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Walden University. He holds certifications in Superintendent, Principal, Supervisor, Teacher, and Cooperative Education Coordinator from the State of New Jersey. In February 2016, he assumed the role of Supervisor of Instruction at Bergen County Technical High School in Paramus, a school specializing in academic and vocational studies for students with learning and behavioral disabilities. In recognition of his unwavering dedication to Career and Technical Education, Chris received recognition from the National Association for Career and Technical Education in 2017.

Christopher has resided in Springfield for over 16 years, together with his wife Lisa (Fernandez), to whom he has been married for 21 years. They have two children: Madison, a Senior attending Jonathan Dayton High School, and Christopher Jr., a 6th-grade student at Florence M. Gaudineer Middle School. Chris makes valuable contributions to his community through active engagement in various roles. He generously volunteered as a soccer coach and scout assistant, actively participates as a member of the PTA, and dedicates his time to serving on multiple boards and committees. Some of these have included Springfield's Planning Board, Environmental Commission, Library Board, and Green Team.

Additionally, Chris has been involved in religious activities at Saint James Church since 2016, serving as a lector and religious education assistant. Chris was also recognized with the Boy Scouts of America Good Scout Award in 2020.

In January 2018, Christopher embarked on his first term as a Springfield Township Committeeman. During his tenure, he has held leadership positions on the Public Safety, Public Works, and Administration Committees. He also co-chaired the Finance and Recreation Committees and served as the liaison to the Environmental Commission, Flood Mitigation Committee, and Green Team. In 2019, he held the position of Deputy Mayor, and in both 2020 and the present year, he has served as the Mayor of Springfield, NJ. Starting on January 1, 2021, Christopher began his second 3-year term on the Township Committee.

Chris wishes to continue serving a town that he loves, a great place to raise a family and give back to a community that gave so much to him and his family. He appreciates your support, along with Committeeman Harris Laufer, on Tuesday, November 7th.
