This past week, three members of the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency Special Operations Team had the opportunity to attend a High Angle Rope Rescue Technician course in Signal Mountain, Tennessee. This certification represents the highest level of rope rescue training recognized in the State of Tennessee.

We would like to thank Mountain Rope Safety Courses and their staff for hosting and providing an outstanding training experience.

Training opportunities like this ensure our personnel remain prepared and equipped to better serve the citizens of Robertson County in complex and high-risk rescue situations.

Starting Saturday, May 2, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will have a Mobile Disaster Recovery Center available to assist individuals impacted by Winter Storm Fern.

Location:
New Chapel Church
5016 Highway 49 W
Springfield, TN

Hours of Operation:
Saturday, May 2 – 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Sunday, May 3 – 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Monday, May 4 through Saturday, May 9 – 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

What to expect:
• Staff from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) on-site to assist residents with their needs
• Staff on-site to help you apply
• Full Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) services available
• No appointment needed

Residents may want to bring:
• Photo identification
• Insurance documents
• Proof of occupancy or ownership, if available
• Mailing address and current contact information
• A list of disaster-related losses and questions for staff

You do not have to be a resident of Robertson County to visit this location. Anyone from an eligible county may come for assistance.

FEMA Individual Assistance is currently available for survivors in the following counties:
Benton, Carroll, Cheatham, Chester, Clay, Davidson, Decatur, Dickson, Dyer, Fayette, Hardeman, Hardin, Henderson, Hickman, Lewis, Macon, Madison, Maury, McNairy, Montgomery, Perry, Robertson, Rutherford, Shelby, Sumner, Trousdale, Wayne, Williamson, and Wilson.

Robertson County EMA Provides Update on April 28 Tornado Event

A damage assessment survey was conducted earlier this morning by the National Weather Service. Based on their findings, the tornado has been officially rated as an EF-1, with peak winds estimated at 95 miles per hour.

We are extremely fortunate to report that no injuries have been identified, and damage has been limited to a small number of structures and vehicles, along with scattered tree debris across affected areas. This outcome is a testament to the preparedness of our community and the swift actions taken by responders.

Robertson County EMA extends its sincere appreciation to all partner agencies that assisted during this event, including:

• Robertson County 911
• Ridgetop Fire Department
• Greenbrier Fire Department TN
• Robertson County Emergency Medical Services
• Robertson County Sheriff's Office
• Nashville Electric Service
• Nashville Office of Emergency Management

Their coordinated efforts and rapid response were instrumental in ensuring the safety of our residents and minimizing impacts.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch – Robertson County, TN
April 28, 2026

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Robertson County and much of Middle Tennessee and is valid until 1:00 AM CDT Wednesday.

Threats include:
• Damaging winds up to 70 mph
• Large hail up to ping pong ball size
• A couple of tornadoes possible

What this means for Robertson County:
Conditions are favorable for severe storms to develop this evening and overnight. Storms may become strong quickly and could impact travel and power infrastructure.

Safety reminders:
• Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings overnight
• Identify your safe place now in case warnings are issued
• Secure loose outdoor items
• Be prepared for possible power outages

Robertson County EMA is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as needed.

Stay weather aware and be ready to act if warnings are issued.

First responders are currently on scene in the Browns Lake Rd area assessing damage from last night’s weather event.

Please avoid the area to allow emergency personnel full access to the scene and to ensure their safety while operations are underway.

Robertson County EMA is aware of a radar-confirmed tornado warning that was issued for our county.

At this time, we have not received any confirmed damage reports from the affected areas. Our team is actively monitoring the situation and working with local agencies to ensure the safety of all residents.

If you have experienced any damage in the Ivy Point, Ridgetop, or Millersville areas, please report it in the comments below so we can assist and relay information to the appropriate agencies.

The Tornado Watch has been expanded eastward to the I-65 corridor and now includes the Nashville Metro Area. The entire watch runs until 5 a.m.

With the potential for severe weather, the following storm shelters are available for residents if needed. Please remember these shelters are intended for life safety during severe weather events such as tornado warnings.

⚠️ Important Shelter Information:
• No pets are allowed inside the shelters.
