🇺🇸EARLY VOTING BEGINS TOMORROW!🇺🇸

Early voting will begin tomorrow at our office. Our regular early voting hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, Monday through Friday, barring Federal holidays.

We will also have additional early voting hours on:
🇺🇸October 6: Open until 5:30 p.m.
🇺🇸Saturday, October 31: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

For election notices, polling place locations, and other important election-related information, please visit our website at www.dewittcountyil.gov and select County Clerk & Recorder under the Departments tab.

If you choose to early vote in our office, please keep the following in mind:
1. Please be respectful and patient.
Our goal is to get everyone through the voting process as quickly and efficiently as possible. We have worked diligently to prepare for this election, and our top priority is to make your voting experience as smooth and easy as possible.

2. Vote-by-mail ballots:
If you requested a vote-by-mail ballot, those ballots will be mailed first thing tomorrow morning. If you later decide that you would prefer to vote early in person—or vote at your polling place on Election Day, November 3—you will need to surrender your vote-by-mail ballot before you can vote in person.

THE DEWITT COUNTY CLERK & RECORDER’S OFFICE IS LOOKING TO FILL A FULL-TIME POSITION IN OUR OFFICE. THE HOURS ARE 8:30AM – 4:30PM MON-FRI WITH AN HOUR LUNCH BREAK. WE ARE CLOSED ON ALL FEDERAL HOLIDAYS.

TOTAL FULL TIME HOURS ARE 35/WEEK, PAID BI-WEEKLY. THE STARTING RATE FOR THIS POSITION WILL BE $17.68/HOUR. RAISES ARE GIVEN ANNUALLY.

BENEFITS INCLUDE:
*HEALTH INSURANCE, VISION AND DENTAL INSURANCE- ALL 3 TAKE EFFECT THE BEGINNING OF THE 3RD MONTH OF EMPLOYMENT, IF YOU CHOOSE TO SIGN UP.

*RETIREMENT THROUGH IMRF BEGINS IMMEDIATLEY.

*COUNTY PAID LIFE INSURANCE WITH THE OPTION TO PURCHASE EXTRA AT A GROUP RATE- TAKES EFFECT THE BEGINNING OF 3RD MONTH OF EMPLOYMENT.

*VACATION DAYS- BEGIN AFTER ONE FULL YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT.
*SICK DAYS (ACCRUED MONTHLY)- TAKE EFFECT THE BEGINNING OF THE 3RD MONTH OF EMPLOYEMNT.
*40 HOURS OF PAID LEAVE TIME- TAKE EFFECT THE BEGINNING OF THE 3RD MONTH OF EMPLOYMENT.
*PAID HOLIDAYS- TAKE EFFECT THE BEGINNING OF THE 3RD MONTH OF EMPLOYMENT.

JOB WILL INCLUDE:
COLLECTING BACK TAX PAYMENTS- WORKING WITH TAXING BODIES REGARDING LEVIES AND BUDGETS, ETC. HELP WITH RUNNING ELECTIONS (WHICH WILL REQUIRE WORKING LATE AND EXTRA HOURS DURING THE ELECTION PERIODS) AND ALL OTHER OFFICE WORK SUCH AS ASSISTING CUSTOMERS WITH DAILY REQUESTS.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS NOT A REQUIREMENT BUT WOULD BE BENEFICIAL. WE ARE WILLING TO TRAIN.

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED IS REQUIRED.

Election Judge letters are going out this Friday (Sept 11). The letter will show at what precinct you will be serving. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE call the office to let us know if you are able to serve or not. This helps to have enough time to find more judges, or rotate some people from other precincts, if I’m able to do so. I do have some new judges that have not been placed yet, so if you took a test/came to the judges school and don’t receive a letter, now worries! I’m still configuring the judge placement list to make sure I have enough at each polling place and from each political party. You WILL be hearing from me soon!

I will always support my employees if they are offered an advancement in their career, a job with better pay, a job with better benefits- And that is exactly what has happened for Dawn Wisley! No matter how happy our whole office is for her, it still doesn’t make it any easier to tell her goodbye. Dawn has been an amazing employee, always willing to help, always smiling and always super positive! She has been my saving grace when it comes to keeping track of my meetings, zoom calls, appointments and etc. I could only imagine how many I would have been late to had it not been for her 🙈 After today- We have 4 working days left with her and we’re soaking up the laughs and conversations that the 4 of us have always shared! Stop on by our office to wish Dawn luck on her next journey- her final day will be next Wed, Sept 16. And although she will not be by our side every day- we know the 4 of us have created a lifelong friendship that will continue when she leaves. CONGRATULATIONS DAWN! We are certainly going to miss you!!

Also- Congratulations to Jessy who will be assuming the role Dawn holds as my chief deputy! You will do amazing!

Today was a day full of election judge trainings-and what great trainings they were! I appreciate my election vendor for sending a rep to present a very informative class for our election judges! Freshening up on Election Day tasks is always a good thing! Thank you to the election judges who took time out their day/evening to attend the trainings! Great questions were asked, which only solidifies that DeWitt County has election judges who care and want to make sure the Election Day goes as smoothly as possible! For any judge unable to attend or for anyone who may find interest in serving as a judge- no worries! You can contact the office to arrange the biennially election judge test and secure a spot to work in November! Just reach out to the office at 217-935-7780!

Attention Clinton High School Seniors who are enrolled in Civics class this semester-

I’ve been invited back for the 4th year in a row to discuss election operations, rules, laws and much more with all Civics classes. I will also be registering to vote any student who is wanting to do so. Please make sure to bring your driver’s license (as long as it has your correct address) and any other ID that has your name on it (your school ID will work). I will also be bringing a demo election machine with a mock election set up so you can see what the voting process is all about- and hopefully take away some of the nerves of voting your first time in a real election! We will also discuss becoming an election judge and I will have materials available for any student who wants to serve for this November’s election and/or in April 2027’s election.

I’ll be in all Civics classes on Wed, Sept 30th, so be prepared to learn and have some voting fun! Will your class elect Cards or Cubs players to various offices?? We’ll find out on Sept 30!
(I’ll be back later in the school year for 2nd semester Civics classes!)
