Health Care Council of Illinois - HCCI

Health Care Council of Illinois - HCCI The Health Care Council of Illinois (HCCI) is the strong, leading voice for nursing home communities across the state.

HCCI strives to bridge the divide between state policy makers and nursing home communities through education and advocacy. Illinois must rein in state spending to solve our financial crisis, but we must protect funding for nursing homes. Holding the line will ensure:

Residents have quality care, food and home-like surroundings. Staff have fair wages and a good work environment. Families can depend on nursing homes to care for their loved ones.

A skilled nursing administrator wears many hats. Leader. Advocate. Mentor. Problem Solver. Community Partner. Resident Champion. Behind the scenes, administrators help guide teams, support residents and families, navigate challenges, and ensure quality care remains at the center of every decision.

It's more than a job. It's a commitment to the people who call our communities home. ๐Ÿก

Meaningful change often starts with a single voice being heard. Every conversation with a policymaker, every opportunity to share experiences from the front lines of care, and every story from residents, families, and caregivers helps strengthen the future of senior care in Illinois.

That's the power of advocacy.

Advocacy is about more than legislation. It's about the residents receiving care, the caregivers providing support, the families seeking peace of mind, and the providers working every day to strengthen senior care across Illinois.

At HCCI, we advocate for policies that support quality care, strengthen our workforce, and ensure the voices of those who live and work in skilled nursing communities are heard where decisions are made.

A productive visit with Rep. La Shawn Ford For Congress at Aperion Care Forest Park focused on several key federal issues affecting long-term care, including challenges with Medicare Advantage, Medicare's three-midnight rule, and policies impacting access to care for seniors.
With Rep. Ford expected to serve in Congress next spring, these conversations help ensure the experiences of providers, caregivers, and residents are part of the discussion as federal healthcare decisions are made.

Thank you, Rep. Ford, for taking the time to engage on issues important to the future of senior care.

Every day, skilled nursing professionals wear many hats, serving as caregivers, advocates, problem solvers, teammates, and trusted sources of support for residents and their families.

This is just a small glimpse into the dedication, compassion, and expertise that help advance quality senior care across Illinois.

Cheers to resident choice and quality of life! ๐Ÿฅ‚
Minnesota's new "Grandparents' Happy Hour" law, signed by Governor Tim Walz, will allow assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and boarding care homes to serve alcohol to residents and their guests during organized social events, provided facilities meet required safety standards.

The new law recognizes the importance of person-centered care, resident autonomy, and meaningful social engagement in long-term care settings. It's another example of how providers can support quality of life while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for residents.
What are your thoughts on this new approach to resident engagement? ๐Ÿ’™
