Health Care Council of Illinois - HCCI

Health Care Council of Illinois - HCCI The Health Care Council of Illinois (HCCI) is the strong, leading voice for nursing home communities across the state.

HCCI strives to bridge the divide between state policy makers and nursing home communities through education and advocacy. Illinois must rein in state spending to solve our financial crisis, but we must protect funding for nursing homes. Holding the line will ensure:

Residents have quality care, food and home-like surroundings. Staff have fair wages and a good work environment. Families can depend on nursing homes to care for their loved ones.

Lobby Day 2026 was a strong reminder of what collective advocacy can accomplish. Advocates from across the state came together at the Capitol to meet with more than 60 legislators, share personal stories, and discuss the issues that matter most to our communities.

From first-time participants to experienced advocates, every voice played a role in strengthening relationships and moving our work forward. We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to show up, prepare, and speak up on behalf of senior care and the people we serve. 💙

We’re proud to recognize HCCI member Accolade Healthcare for their Sparkle Initiative ✨
Launched in 2024, the program focuses on clean, organized environments that support both residents and staff. Each location participates in ongoing efforts throughout the year, leading up to an annual Sparkle Award. It’s a great example of how consistency and pride in your space can elevate care across every community. 💙
Know a long-term care team doing great work? We’d love to hear about it. 💭

What a powerful day of advocacy at our annual Lobby Day! Together, we connected with 60+ legislators, elevating the voices of our members and the residents we serve.
We connected with leaders including Rep. Ryan Spain, Sen. Doris Turner, Rep. Chung, Sen. Dave Koehler, Sen. Arrellano, Sen. Sue Rezin, Sen. Napoleon Harris, Rep. Yolanda Morris, Sen. Villivalam, and Sen. Lakeisa Collins, highlighting the need for continued investment in senior care and workforce support.

Lawmakers acknowledged the challenges ahead, but it is clear that senior care remains a priority. We’re grateful for the conversations, connections, and everyone who showed up to advocate.
Your voice matters, and it’s being heard. 💬💙

At HCCI, it’s the everyday moments that define quality skilled nursing care. A quick check-in, a shared smile, or stepping in when it matters most.

During National Skilled Nursing Care Week, we recognize the HCCI residents, caregivers, team members, and volunteers who deliver dependable, compassionate care every day. Since 1967, this week has highlighted the vital role skilled nursing plays in supporting health, dignity, and connection. Join us in thanking the HCCI teams who make a real difference daily.
